Summary
Dr. Robert E. loy
My interest in dentistry began at an early age. My father, returning home after the Korean War, wanted to become a dentist, but the field became crowded due to the heavy influx of returning soldiers. It always stayed with me. Then in the sixth grade, my favorite teacher, Mrs. Wilson, taught a health section about teeth. I was the only one in the class that could list all the individual teeth. She said, “I’m going to put a star by your name in my grade book.†Well for a sixth grader, that was awesome praise and a real turning point in my life.
After my sophomore year in college, at Western Kentucky University, I enlisted in the US Air Force where I chose my field, which was dentistry. It was the optimal training experience, from fieldwork as a medic, to dental assistant, to expanded duty dental assistant and as a dental hygienist. I then went on to the University of Kentucky, where I interned as an oral surgery assistant at the local VA Hospital, while …completing my degree.
My first practice opened in 1982 in Winchester, KY where I practiced for 14 years. In 1996, I joined the faculty as an instructor at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and, in December of 1999, I returned to my love of helping patients and started my current practice at 3470 Blazer Parkway.
My passion has been always fueled by the need to help people in pain, people who are distressed over the condition of their smile and those experiencing severe TMJ symptoms. My job is to find the cause of your pain and get rid of it, regardless of the complexity. I love taking on challenging cases and helping my patients get back to enjoying their life.
Here are just a few of the typical comments you’ll hear in the office.
"Finally somebody who doesn’t just look at my teeth."
"You all laugh a lot in this office."
"He really cares."
We are not a typical dental office. Our office is dedicated to excellence; we work unhurried and give attention to detail. We use cutting edge technology and the most modern equipment. I have surrounded myself with a staff that is enthusiastic, well trained and feel an "ownership" to the practice. Believe it or not, I love coming to work in the mornings.
