Dr. Mackie is a native Californian who was raised in Santa Barbara and Whittier. He earned a bachelor's degree with honors from California State University, Chico in 1977, and after working briefly as a teacher, he decided to change course and pursue his real interest in dentistry.
Dr. Mackie attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he graduated at the top of his class in 1988 and was the recipient of several awards. Following graduation, he did a one-year general practice residency at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, California. At that time fewer than 1% of the nation's dentists were accepted for this advanced training.
Dr. Mackie has managed several large dental groups and has been in private practice in Huntington Beach since 1998. He is devoted to staying abreast of the latest techniques and information in dentistry through continuing education and is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.
