Dr. Robert Carey Mackow, MD

Dr. Mackow one of the best ever. He listen and take good care of his for patients. He is my one and only doctor since my kidney transplant. Now I have 22 years since my transplant, and I plan to continue under his care.

I went with my father to see Dr. Robert Mackow. My father has proteinuria and lowered eGFR. His insurance changed so we went to this facility as it was covered. We set the appointment over 1 month in advance to have him see my father. When we arrived we filled out all the necessary information. We waited over 2 hours just to be called back. The waiting room was empty. People after us were being called back. The front desk let us knew that Dr. Mackow was going to be late. No worries. It happens. We were called back by the male teck/nurse who was just okay. We waited in the room for an additional 45 mins. Finally Dr. Mackow arrives in all rushed and papers in hand. He had my fathers previous records. Dr Mackow is very rude. He said he needs to be on a kidney transplant list and handed us some number. We said that, was a kidney transplant absolutely needed? His previous nephrologist had never spoken of that. He said to call this number and be on the transplant list. We said what are the… risks and benefits of a transplant versus dialysis. He said call the number. No interpersonal skills. We asked about blood work and he seemed to take it negative as he said blood work wont show anything call to be on a transplant list. Dr. Mackow is not a friendly doctor. He has absolutely no bedside manners and no professional behavior. He is not caring or welcoming. We felt rush during the whole visit. There are better ways to explain to a patient that if they need a kidney transplant then call a 1800 number. Ridiculous. This doctor is a joke. He should have his license taken away from him. He is no empathetic. His personality is rude. Dr. Robert Mackow should be ashamed of himself. I wonder why Nephrology Associates of Northern Virginia still have him staff. He should be fired. 0 stars. STAY AWAY FROM DR. ROBERT C. MACKOW.
