Dr. Mames and his staff are a huge blessing to me. I have wet macular degeneration and have to have injections every few months. He is a very caring doctor about his patients and he's extremely knowledgable about my treatment. The injections are painless and my wait time is rarely over 5 minutes. Thank you Dr. Mames!

Though strictly professional, the office atmosphere is one of caring and the Doctors and Staff all maintain a healthy sense of humor. As we emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic, the Retina Center continues to take precautions requiring masks and grouping vaccinated patient appointments together and unvaccinated patient appointments together. I have worn glasses my entire life. About 20 year ago I torn the retina in my left eye after being hit with a bungee cord. Then 10 years ago by right eye developed a tear on its own. Dr. Mames has done surgery twice (once in each eye) and he has kept my eye sight almost 20/20. If not for the gift God has provide Dr. Mames and his hard work I would be blind. I cannot thanks Dr. Mames enough for saving my eye sight and therefore my way of life. Thank you & God Bless you.

Because of the Covid19 pandemic I was apprehensive about my appointment with Dr. Mames. I was so pleased that the waiting room was limited to two patients. Dr.Mames and his professional staff make the patients safety their top priority, wearing masks, distancing, wiping down equipment. I felt very protected. Thank you Dr. Mames and staff.

Dr. Mames is a very knowledgeable and thorough surgeon. When I first went to him he did not sugar coat an outcome but total me all the possibilities of the surgery. One of these possibilities was that I might get my sight back. Two years ago I saw my regular eye doctor who said My only choice was to live with my sight loss, we changed eye doctors and the new doctor recommended Dr. Mames. Now only two weeks after surgery am very thankful for a great outcome that my sight is now 20/30 and with a strong possibility of getting even better. Totally satisfied and thankful !!!

Dr. Robert Mames and the staff at the Retina Center in Ocala, FL are the epitome of outstanding health care professionals. The front staff you meet on entering are very friendly and exhibit a high degree of professionalism that provides a nice comfort level for the patient. This carries through to Dr. Mames himself. He is very laid back and explains all the procedures in detail the layman can understand. I had suffered a ruptured blood vessel in the eye that caused a tear in my retina. Being on a blood thinner made it more difficult to diagnose as my eye ball was filled with blood. It took several visits before Dr. Mames could locate the tear and close it with laser surgery. Then some freezing surgery was applied to provide more assurance the retina would stay attached. Without hesitation, I would recommend Dr. Mames and his staff at the retina center for your eye care. Thanks to them I still have full sight in the affected eye. I was treated at his Ocala, Fl facility.

Through eye injections (totally painless) Dr. Mames restored my ability to read. He and his staff are friendly, caring, and professional. The reason for a 16 - 30 minute wait is for the anesthesia to take effect. Highly recommend!

When I first visited Dr. Mames, my macular degeneration had gotten so bad that I could no longer read even with reading glasses. After only a few injections (absolutely painless) my sight had returned to nearly normal and I am once again able to read a book a day.
