Dr. Robert Carl Manz, MD

I have complete confidence in Dr. Manz. This is the second injury that has needed his expertise and I have been very satisfied with his professionalism, diagnosis, willingness to discuss options, and "bedside manner." I recommend him to anyone needing an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Manz has operated on both my shoulders (9 years apart). Since my first surgery, I have been able to talk with about a dozen or so of his patients. We all agree; he is an excellent surgeon, a very kind and patient doctor and someone you would welcome into your home and call a friend.

He spent time making sure I understood how the procedure he was doing, and explaining everything that I would need to know. I didn't even have to ask a question as all was so well explained. I have scene Dr. Manz several times over the past 7 years and I think very highly of him.

When a surgeon goes above and beyond what is expected during the difficult time surrounding my first surgery in over 30 years, I feel it is necessary to share that experience with others. From the very earliest discussions with Dr. Manz regarding the need for carpal tunnel surgery, to the follow up when it was over, this kind, knowledgeable and completely thorough physician and his therapist did an excellent job explaining my situation to me and had me prepared for exactly what to expect. He did an amazing job. While difficult to imagine, the West Bend Surgery Center and this doctor made the day of the surgery a pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend him and his staff to anyone in need of the many services he so willingly and caringly provides. If there were more than 4 stars I would be using every one of them!

Diagnosis: "Severe Carpal Tunnel." I had been experiencing severe carpal tunnel symptoms for several sleepless months. My hands are my livlihood, as I am an artisan in metal, and work with hammers daily. Hence, not only was my quality of life at risk, but also my livlihood. Dr. Manz, as well as his staff, provided very individualized care for me. I never felt as if I was a bother, and my questions were answered thoroughly. Dr. Manz never promised anything, but he was encouraging, providing I did my part during recovery, i.e. doing excercises, massaging incision area, sleeping with splint, etc. He understood and appreciated the fact that I needed to get back to work ASAP. He said my recovery time could be anywhere from 8-12 weeks, with an outside chance of more or less time. Results: The day of surgery I was free of all symptoms (severe tingling and ache during sleep.) At rest, the pain from surgery was about a four on the first day, and down to a two a few days later. It was… difficult to do my excisies in the first few days, but I did them religeously (as he told me), as I wanted to get back to work. As my hands are beefy from working with them, it was recommended, but not mandetory, that the stitches remain in for three weeks to prevent "gapping". Gapping is what happens when stitches are removed, and through using and flexing the hand, the incision splits a bit, which delays healing. I had no gapping, and was on the "fast track" to healing, according to the therapists. By week six, I was able to swing a hammer with about 90% power. My grip strength was measured to be above average at this point as well. At week seven,I was back to work full time. I am still not up to 100%, however I am doing much better than I anticipated. I still have tenderness to the right of the incision site, but that is expected. Dr. Manz checked me out yesterday for a post-op review, and said he's satisfied and encouraged at my progress. I praise the Lord for the personal care and healing He has provided through Dr. Manz, and his staff.

I thought about NOT posting this, because I don't want him getting too busy! he's a great guy, good personality. I think he's intelligent and considerate. I recommend him, highly.

Knowledgeable, kind and professional. Evaluated, diagnosed and treated my problem on my first visit. Dr. Manz would be my first choice if I need an orthopedist again.

Dr. Manz has done both of my hands - corpal tunnel surgery and I had amazing results!! I thought I had to live with my problem but Dr. Manz has given me a new life!! He is truly caring and concerned about you the patient, and has a great bedside manner. I really like the collaberation with therapist Joni at all my visits and therapy!! I can't say enough good about Dr. Manz and Joni!! I highly recommend Dr.Manz!!!!!!

I would say Dr. Manz is extremely good at what he does. Dr. Manz performed surgery on my right hand, and did an excellent job. Dr. Manz has a great bed side manner, and is well respected by his staff and patients. I highly recommend Dr. Robert Manz for anyone requiring orthopedic surgery or orthopedic corrections.
