Dr. Robert J Maro JR., MD

I've only been to this office a few times, and I can't really review Dr. Maro himself, but I have never seen a doctor's office that was run so poorly. The billing manager, Stephanie, has been evasive, rude, and frankly predatory. She sent a bill to collections without notifying me when it was denied (after she submitted it to my insurance INCORRECTLY...TWICE). After 5 months of constant phone calls and unanswered messages, she finally got the bill paid through my insurance, and then failed to notify the collections agency that my bill had been paid. On top of all that, some of the office staff is extremely rude and disorganized and the office building is gross. I was given a shot in a dirty break room next to a nurse eating her lunch, and had a checkup in an exam room with huge boxes and dusty old equipment stacked next to me. I will not be going back and do not recommend this office to anyone who does not want to deal with a complete nightmare.

Excellent Doctor ! Has been my family physician for 15 years. Very knowledgeable and takes time to explain things. Very straight forward with diagnosis and treatment plan. Takes time to listen and answers questions.

Dr. Maro has been my doctor for almost 20 years. He is not only my amazing doctor, but my entire family's doctor. I have never met a more intelligent, kind, and honest physician. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. Nothing but good things to say!! Janelle Van Wagner

He is the most arrogant cocky doctor I have ever met. My first meeting with him had been a long time ago when I was in the hospital trying to figure out what was wrong with me. He then proceeded to tell my husband that he should leave me now, because he had seen these "types" of cases before. He is actually lucky my husband didn't punch him right then and there. No compassion, ZERO bedside manner whatsoever. If you have to act like each patient is a huge bother you simply shouldn't be a doctor. That brings me to the present with my father being hospitalized, Dr Maro and his team haven't responded to us after asking twice with the nurses. They spent one minute with my father and told him he would be better off at home in the middle of the dementia he was having. Now that he is back to normal, they want him to go to rehab before going home, He is walking just fine. They should not be anywhere near a hospital. Maybe his office is okay, I've never been there but his treatment and… care at the hospital from his team's horrific. Annie (who we couldn't even understand), Maro, Shock.

DR. Maro is an amazing doctor. He is not only my doctor, but my entire fanilies' doctor. Charismatic, truthful, and extremely intelligent. Nothing but good things to say!!!

I Have been going to this office more than 35 years. Dr. Maro has a good bedside manner, is thorough and takes time to explain things in easy word manner.

I have nothing positive to say about my 89 year old Mother's hospital stay under Dr. Maro's service. If the overall star system was not a required field, I would not rate any stars for him. Dr. Maro loudly lectured me in my Mother's hospital room in her presence. He said that if something happened to her, he would not resuscitate her, even though a DNR was not signed. He went on to say that if she was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, she would never eat again, or it would be a stomach tube for feedings. I am sure that she could hear him as well as anyone else within earshot. He is loud and mouthy and totally lacks bedside manner. He had no respect or consideration for my Mother or me. I was frightened, and I am sure that she was frightened by hearing this, even if she could not express what she felt. As I stated earlier, I never saw Dr. Maro again, only his nurse practitioners checked on her briefly. Sadly, after eleven days in the hospital a doctor from Virtua Garden… State Pulmonary informed me that there was nothing more the hospital could do for my Mother and she was placed on a morphine drip. After my Mother passed I was able to obtain my Mother's partial medical report. The report stated that she was in the late stage of dementia. I was not aware of this. Dr. Maro should have discussed this with me with finesse at some point of her hospitalization and explained what was happening to her. I should not have had to read a report. I doubt that Dr. Maro reads any of these reviews and even if he did, he would just shrug his shoulders and say that he doesn't care what anyone says or thinks about him. He needs an attitude adjustment. My mother lived with me for twenty years and she was well taken care of and protected by myself and her caregivers. Dr. Maro failed her in lack of courtesy, consideration, respect and her dignity. She was not just any old sick patient, she was my Mother.

When we have an appointment, Dr. Maro spends time with us answering any medical questions that we have. We've been going to him for over 20 years. He is straightforward and very knowledgeable.

Follow up on prescriptions is very poor. Have called in for a script and was told I'd be called when ready to pick up and most times I don't get the call. My husband needed his prescription before leaving on a business trip and explained this to the doctor. He was told it wasn't a problem to get the script and he'd get a call when it was ready to be picked up. The weekend hit and still no call. He had to wait until Monday which is when his flight was due to leave where he ended up having to call the office asking if the script was written yet. He was told it was and when he asked why no one called him he got an apology but no explanation. An oversight from time to time is expected but having this consistent lack of follow up is not acceptable. It's the reason we are leaving this practice.

Hospital experience onlyRude and incompetentIn a day and a half he couldn't lower a senior citizen's heart rate. Patient's cardiologist brought it back to normal in an hour and a half.
