Dr Robert McKearney
Dr. McKearney graduated from the Medical College of Virginia (VCU) School of Dentistry in 1986. He received his certificate in Post-Graduate Studies in Endodontics from the University of Louisville in 1988. After practicing as an associate for a year in Virginia Beach, Dr. McKearney moved to the Shenandoah Valley and started the very first endodontic practice in Harrisonburg, Virginia. As the only root canal specialist in an hours radius at the time, his colleagues in the dental community kept him busy from the start. After 16 years in solo practice, Dr. McKearney was pleased to welcome Dr. Kenee to Valley Endodontics in an effort to keep up with the growing demand for specialty care. With a partner to lighten the load, Dr. McKearney was able to pursue a dream of teaching part time at the dental school in Richmond. As an adjunct professor at the endodontic residency at the VCU School of Dentistry, he has been able to grow professionally while keeping up to …date on the latest research and share his years of experience with others soon to enter the specialty.

Dr. McKearney grew up in the Syracuse, New York area where he learned to hate shoveling snow and love SU basketball. He attended Siena College where he played four years of Division I soccer but more importantly met Peggy whom he later married and together raised 3 children. He currently resides in Harrisonburg where over the years he has coached soccer and baseball, been involved with scouting, and numerous civic and charitable organizations. He is know for his sense of humor, being a practical joker and having fun in and out of the office. He prides himself on not causing any pain during a dental appointment unless he happens to sing (which some say can be pretty bad). He is an avid sports fan, JMU supporter and a weekend warrior on the golf course.
