Dr. Robert J. Meislin, MD

I had a surgery by Dr. Meislin last 2018 for my right knee arthroscopy. I'am so happy with the result. He did an excellent surgery to correct my problem. I want to express my sincere appreciation for the promptness and professional care given to me.Thank you for providing such convenient care.

Dr Meislin took a chance on me in 2018 and performed a rare hip/gleutial pirformis / impingement surgery on me that no other doctors in NYC would perform. I had already had a cam impingement and labrum surgery on that hip at HSS and after still having issues that HSS Dr gave up on me and was stumped. I was suffering in pain for years and had debilitating pain down the back of my leg into my toes. Sitting became something I dreaded and driving was painful and the constant foot spams and buzzing I felt down my leg in bed, driving, sitting drove me insane and I was told to get a pain pump inserted in my back to control it. I saw so many pain management doctors & orthopedists and I was told I had sciatica yet my back scans were clear, I was told I has CRPS/RSD but I refused to believe that. I lived in pain for years and told all sorts of crazy things but I never gave up thinking I had pirformis syndrome. A top HSS Dr I saw (not the one who operated) told me I had a rare issue and the only… Dr that could help me was in Texas. I Was seeing Dr Meislin for my shoulder and mentioned my hip issue. He took a chance on me. Dr Meislin opened me up and took a chance on me and removed fibrotic tissue from my pirformis muscle that was affecting my sciatic nerve by my hip/gleutial pirformis muscle and he fixed a bone that was impinging it as well. My recovery took time but I am now over 4 years post op and recently was thinking I owe so much to Dr Meislin. My entire leg from tush to toes is now finally pain free. I was so excited when I was finally able to sit in a car and drive long distances and sit in a theatre without pain and just sit at all without pain. This surgery went so well that in 2020 when hospitals opened up again during the pandemic I had Dr Meislin repair a cam impingement and labrum tear on my opposite hip. Dr Meislin is caring, compassionate and has great bedside manner in addition to being very smart and a great surgeon. His Physician Assistant and Admin Assistant are also great and very attentive.

Dr. Rob Meislin did prp injections on me twice last year. The first injection went extremely well. He used ultrasound guidance for the injection and my tendon felt great. I was so happy I asked him to do a second prp. I trust Dr. Meislin because I am clinically trained to read verbal and nonverbal cues. I have never in my 50 plus years been wrong about anyone’s moral character. Dr. Meislin has a kind heart and I believe he cared about me, and I am certain about his other patients too. To me, he seemed like a doctor who thinks about his patients even when he’s on vacation. He also made a promise to me and I trust he kept his word. As I am well-versed in medical research, I want to add that injecting extra PRP would only help damaged tissues as our bodies would naturally flush out anything extra it doesn’t need.

Robert Meislin injured me during a prp injections. In our physical examination prior to the prp injections Meislin deemed both my tennis elbows left and right to be 90% healed with no need for surgery when I asked how I get to 100% Meislin retorted prp, now after speaking with other people makes no sense. Worse off at the prp injection day Meislin ultrasounded my right elbow and upgraded by right elbow to 95% healed then he grabbed my right arm and injected my elbow causing me to scream in pain as Meislin continued the prp injection. All the while Meislin unprofessionalism exuded as he didn’t utilize the ultrasound to guide the prp injections nor did he Utilize hand gloves or a SMock as he wore jeans and a white button down shirt as if he just came from a bar. Meislin claims alleged oral consent how bush league and Meislin notes corroborate no risk Benefit discussions as to prp injections and why Meislin used 3 ml prp on my left elbow and online it is suggested the maximum… suggested amount of prp for tennis elbow is 3 ml yet Meislin unbenounced to me utilized 5 ml on my right elbow nearly twice the maximum amount yet Meislin had just declared my right elbow at the prp injection date as 95% healed and both elbows prior at the physical 90% healed making the injections most definitely unnecessary. Clearly either and or Meislin lack of prp injection ability and proper skill and or the extra ml of prp that Meislin utilized on my right elbow caused my injury. Meislin never disclosed the ml injections amounts to me nor did he attempt to explain the need for 2 ml above the maximum suggested amount. Meislin simply entered the room said hi ultrasounded my right elbow told me it was 95% healed and rushed the injections without and risk benefit discussion at all. How could Meislin even undertake a procedure that he deemed almost fully healed. At 90% or 95% healed I was later advised Meislin should have never under his hypocritical oath as a Doctor he should have put my health and safety first not his $700 fee. Two patients in 2022 have already complained about Meislin prp reviews that alleged to have injured them. Had dR Chorney the head of nyu Langone orthopedics and or the other chosen persons had suspended Meislin pending prp injection review and or assigned a peer to review Meislin prp proposed injections what Meislin did to me likely doesn’t occur. However it appears that that $700 per Meislin prp injection trumps profits over patient benefit and safety. I was injured by Meislin prp injections some two plus months ago. To date i have heard nothing that Meislin has been suspended from undertaking prp injections. No alleged oral consent should be acceptable to nyu and informed consent should be required no Meislin thin alleged claims of oral consent should never me acceptable to nyu Langone. Alleged doctors should undertake full risk benefit discussion so the patients can make AN INFORMED DECISION AS TO ANY SURGERY OR PROCEDURE.

I am a retired Veteran and a dentist in which I broke my back and had 2 back surgeries in 2012, and 2013 while serving my country in the United states Army. For 6 years I kept complaining of sciatic nerve pain possibly due to the piriformis, or from Gluteus muscles. For years I have been doing physical therapy, massages, acupuncture, cupping, taking nsaids for pain relief, back injections as well as injections in the muscles every 3-6 month. And still I was in so much pain. Luckily for me, the Veteran Affairs Hospital Hired Dr. Meislin 2x a month to provide his exceptional services to our armed service members. I saw Dr. Meislin on Dec 17 for a consult and because he specializes in sports medicine as an orthopedic surgeon, he was able to diagnose the issue instantly. I had surgery on Dec 31st. 2 weeks later I am doing so much better and able to extend my leg and it seems my sciatic pain has decreased. I am so grateful to Dr. Meislin. I will see him for a follow up in 3 months. I feel… very happy and actually shed a tear bc I have been dealing with this pain for such a long time. I am very hopeful that my recovery will continue in the right direction. Next, I am scheduled for physical therapy which is the most important step after surgery. I cannot thank Dr. Meislin enough. Had surgery with Dr Meislin 2 months ago. He is the best and would highly recommend. He treats you as if you are his only patient. Answers all text messages.also has a sense of humor and knows how to put you at ease.

Dr. Meislin operated on my right shoulder quite a few years ago. Since then he has treated me off and on for knee arthritis and most recently for a knee injury. In the past I found him to be a good caring physician. However, he seems to have changed and my two most recent visits really ticked me off. Since thankfully I do not currently have broken bones or require surgery Dr. Meislin apparently does not consider me to be worthy of his time. I was rushed through my appointments and cut off when I tried to ask questions or say something about my condition. How rude! Needless to say I will be finding another doctor. While it is true that Dr. Meislin is a good surgeon, I am not interested in being treated by an orthopedist whose attitude towards his patients is affected by how much money he can make off them!

Very professional and smart - I totally feel that I am in the best hands when being treated by Dr. Meislin. Amazing surgeon!

Appointment with Dr. Meislin was good, but I was offered a brace and no one explained to me they would bill my insurance $1,456 for just the brace, of which I would be responsible for $404.86 (even though I asked if I owed anything when I checked out). I could have bought one on Amazon for $100. I paid them $200 (much more than their cost) and told Dr. Meislin I should have been informed when they casually offered the brace to me. Dr. Meislin apologized and said he would speak with his office. A year later, many many exasperating phone calls, faxes and trips to the post office to send certified letters, I still have not received any response to my request for the remaining bill to be forgiven. Instead of calling me back to say no they won't do it, or give me any reply at all, they send it to a collections agency and now threaten my credit score. Completely frustrating and unprofessional. Don't get my started on the automated NYU Langone billing system... I am avoiding anything NYU… Langone-related from now on.

I am so grateful to have reached the stage where I can write this review. I found Dr Meislin and his staff extremely responsive and skilled in treating my menisectomy surgery. Dr Meislin will answer all questions posed to him. He leaves the hand holding to his staff. Dr Meislin does what needs to be done in an incredibly efficient manner. When I leave an email to him at 11 pm, I get an answer back by 8 am. I was in extreme pain before my surgery and feel much better now, 12 weeks post surgery. I highly recommend Dr Meislin
