Employees: Previous employee. Toxic/hostile work environment, I quit due to moodiness from the doctor and being belittled in front of patients and behind closed office doors, (I made it clear in my resignation I was quitting due to a hostile work environment *see letter below*) Dr. Melendez’s daughter is the manager and his son is the marketing director, which is your first red flag, opportunities to go to events are always given to them rather then the actual certified technicians. PATIENTS: The cost of speciality lens are INSANE, he’s more concerned with SELLING the specialty lens that are a out of pocket expense. If you choose a standard lens you will have to wait longer for surgery because speciality lens patients are given sooner time slots. My wife who also is an MD had undergone bilateral cataract surgery with insertion of expensive trifocal lens ( Price tag $ 12,500 + ). The result is very poor. I advise people not to fall for this trifocal lens. My wife's near vision, far vision is worse and the night vision is unchanged. I wouldn't recommend him.

In 2019 Dr. Melendez performed cataract surgery on my left eye. He did a great job and I highly recommend him. He is knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. Ignore other reviews and overviews that say he has only practiced for a year. He was formerly with eye associates and is now in his own practice. He has won awards for his outstanding work. I hope he stays in Albuquerque for many years to come.???? John Gilmore

At 62 years of age, I had been told by other doctors that I was too old for Lasix and too young for cataract surgery. Dr Melendez was highly recommended so I made an appointment. I went in expecting an eye exam and a prescription for glasses and contacts. After meeting with staff and Dr, I was thrilled to learn I had an option! An option that has given me 20/20 vision and the ability to hike, backpack, read, watch TV, drive as well as pursue two passions, quilting and photography, all without glasses. I am forever grateful that Dr Melendez gave me that option. Lens Replacement surgery has given me complete freedom. The procedure is fast, recovery is fast and the encouragement and support of everyone at Juliette Eye Institute made my decision one of the best decisions and the best investment I have ever made.

Poor surgeon! He is obnoxious and arrogant! Do not go to him!!!

I was very pleased with the surgery for cataract implants on both eyes. First time since I received my first driving license at age 16 years in Michigan I did not have to wear glasses. Very Happy.
