Dr. Miller performed a total hip replacement for me. It was a 110% success! He is professional and very experienced as well as very knowledgeable. What distinguishes Dr. Miller as a "great" vs. a "very good" Orthopaedic Surgeon is his easy ACCESSIBILITY and the amount of TIME that he spends with his patients as individuals -- you never feel like you're just another "case number". Dr. Miller first finds out the PATIENT's goals for surgery, and then matches them with completely understandable explanations of what is medically possible. Pre- surgery visits with Dr. Miller never leave you with unanswered questions or worries (even those you didn't know you had!). Therefore, after surgery, there are never any unexpected, unpleasant "surprises" or disappointments. In my opinion, there is a common trait among orthopaedic surgeons who are "very good" which is best explained by this joke: Q. What is the difference between God and an orthopedic surgeon? A. God doesnt think he is an… orthopedic surgeon. What makes Dr. Miller great (instead of just very good) is that he does not think he is God, nor does he act like it. Instead, when you visit him, Dr. Miller makes you feel like YOU are the only person that matters to him. One last comment -- do not be put off by the low reputation of the hospital where Dr. Miller performs surgery. Ask him (as I did) if that should be a concern. Again, Dr. Miller will take the TIME to explain from both a patient's and a surgeon's viewpoint what to look for in a hospital for orthopedic surgery.
