Dr. Robert Thomas Mitrione, MD

Hands down the best doctor I have ever had. He has helped me in my life and health in ways I cannot put into words. Dr Mitrione is very well knowledged and wise. He has helped me more than any other Dr, I have ever had. His staff is also great, Nick is very kind, prompt and always friendly and always relays messages to Dr M and always return phone calls. Great group, its worth the 1 hr drive I have to see Dr. Mitrione

Dr. Mitrione has not only ALWAYS remembered my name for the past 18 months, but he has always treated me with respect, not only as a patient, but as a person. I have never had any issues with him. I am not sure what happened in the past with him, but it is true that my insurance, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, probably one of the biggest insurance companies in the U.S., would not cover his prescriptions. I found this a little odd. I have never had my insurance turn down a prescription due to the Doctor. I WILL be doing more research on his past to see exactly what happened, but as far as I'm concerned he does care about his patients. I have seen him call a patient by his "last: name with Mr. as the prefix, showing that he does know his patients. He has never forgot my name, and has never looked "stoned" as the previous statement said. As far as I'm concerned, Dr. Mitrione has helped me a great deal threw a VERY difficult time in my life. I was not admitted as the other patient was,… but I have almost died several times due to my illness and this has never been overlooked by him. If I have had a hard time with something since last seeing him, he always takes the time to make sure that the problem is talked about and usually resolved, as best as possible. The only issue I have had with Dr Mitrione is his conceded young "male" reception. He usually seems pre occupied by one thing or another, but I have never had this issue with the doctor.

My wife and I have been full time patiants of Dr. Mitrione for the past six months. He seems to realy take his patients health and well being in to consideration 100%. All i can say is that he seems to realy care and has a strong pasion for what he does. He as been there for us any time we needed him. And i don't know about any of you but it is hard to find a doctor like that for me! So he has my vote!

If I'd known what kind of treatment I'd get from this convicted felon(2 convictions related to Medicaid/Medicare fraud, U.S. v. Mitrione), I would've contested the court order.He never could remember my name, and often forgot my chart during rounds at the hospital. His eye contact and mannerisms were poor--I felt like I could see flying toasters against a blue background in his eyes during med check. He saw me as a diagnosis and treated me accordingly--he concluded that because my file said X, Y and Z must also be true. It's rarely that simple.His "care" borders on negligence. When I became severely depressed following the suicide of someone I knew, he ignored it. I told him, my therapist, and hospital staff repeatedly that I felt suicidal. So did several other patients and some of my friends and families on the outside. I was put on suicide watch for two hours, then taken off it because they thought I was making it up. To no one's surprise, I finally made the attempt, saved… only because one of the staff found me. He told me "We had another person with [your diagnosis], and every other word out of her mouth was suicide..."In one incident, a patient requested to meet with him during rounds, complaining that she was hearing voices. He did not meet with her, and when she swore at him, he rolled his eyes. Another patient requested to meet with him during rounds a different time, and he replied "You're not on my list of things to do today."He labeled me as "delusional" upon admission because I said I was a freelance journalist. This was only proven incorrect when I presented my credentials and clips.I'm one of the lucky ones--my roommate was also his patient. He tweaked some of her meds, which sent her into a state similar to my grandfather in his end stages of Alzheimer's How do I know? Because when I told him about my roommate climbing onto my bed while I was in it, he said he'd made a mistake with the meds. Borderline confidentiality breach, anyone? I was later transferred, so I don't know what happened to her.I'm also curious as to how two people--by the unit director's own admission--were wrongfully admitted to that unit.I'll probably go down to my grave wondering why the state hired him. Who in their right mind would place someone with those convictions in a job that is paid for primarily by Medicare and Medicaid?
