Dr. Robert Swanson Neff

I found Dr Neff to be very charming until his authority was questioned and then he became immediately abrasive and dismissive. He informed me that it was his professional opinion that I did not need an MRI for an ankle/knee injury that I was being treated for and I in turn informed him that I heard as well as felt popping in my knee and ankle during injury. He said that to humor me he would let me have a knee MRI, (it was pure luck that when I reviewed the previous ER doctors notes that I found that he said the a MRI was clinically warranted on my ankle), so I called back and spoke with Dr Neff's secretary who then scheduled me for the second MRI. Consequently, it was determined that I had a complete tear of my ACL and significant soft tissue damage in my ankle as well. Dr Neff's response to this discovery was a bewildered, "We both didn't see that coming, did we?" WHAT?! He then proceeded to suggest that I should put a heavy weight on my ankle to strengthen my knee and looked… perplexed again when I reminded him that I still had a broken fibula and ligament damage in my ankle and that I doubted the soundness of prematurely putting weight on said injury. My overall feeling about the good doctor is that he is not really in the game anymore and is not interested in his patients. He was earnestly eager to discuss his activities in the local golf tournament though and I found my visit with him disheartening. HIs personal staff were dour and not very friendly, for that matter, and I found the entire office's overall demeanor to be unhappy and humorless. It is my opinion that this particular group allowed themselves to be consolidated into too large an office and they seem to be under a great deal of strain. I personally saw fit to find myself another Doctor at a new facility. They have been more than friendly and helpful.
