Dr. Nelson's approach of overmedicating and excessive pathologizing is the main reason I would not recommend him. His integrity is also questionable as he accepts "compensation" from pharmaceutical companies (public information on the ProPublica database).

I was prescribed lithium as an alternative to Risperdal, which had caused Tardive Dystonia. Clearly, the lithium wasn't working as a mood stabilizer, and after being prescribed a dozen different medications including Prozac, I developed Parkisonian-like symptoms (due to a known interaction with Ingrezza). This was the darkest period in my life, during which I considered quitting my job and going on social security disability (which he refused to help me with). After wanting to give up on life, I met a new doctor, and I am doing much better!

Dr. Nelson is amazing. Listens and truly cares. He is very knowledgeable and open minded, and provides the best care.

Dr. Nelson was tough, I'll give you that, but it was exactly what I needed. I have never had the chance in my life to tell him how much that meant to me. Without him, I would not be able to wake up and hug my 2 beautiful daughters every morning. What an amazing doctor that I will treasure for the rest of my life.

I was so thankful to come across Dr. Nelson. After living with an undiagnosed medical condition all of my life, it was life changing for someone to take the time to figure out the problem and address it. I have never experienced anything other than an excellent bedside manner, genuine concern and great patient education. I also love the fact that he continually keeps up on current research and is therefore able to offer more insight into questions that may come up. Many doctors do not take the time to read medical journals and research when they are busy out in practice, so that fact alone sets him apart as an excellent provider. I get the sense that he genuinely enjoys what he does and cares about outcomes. I also appreciate that he does not assume 'one size fits all' and therefore takes the time to try multiple options until he finds one that fits best for the patient. I could find no basis to rate any part of my experience anything other than 5 stars. I highly recommend!
