Dr. Robert A. Ochoa, MD

Dr. Ochoa is an excellent surgeon with a great bedside manor.

This doctor removed my galbladder because it was acutely inflamed. He had to do it using open surgery instead of laparoscopicly b/c there was a lot of inflammation. That part went ok, I survived. At the end though, instead of using stitches to close me back up, he ended up using staples. Those left me with 30-40 scars (where the staple ends entered my abdomen) and also a big scar where the incision was made. Dr Ochoa didn’t level the two sides of the incision when he brought the skin together to close it off, so one side of my scar is higher than the other. My scar also is really wide, wider than it needed to be. He should have brought the skin in together and stictched it up properly. He didn’t do it. I went to a plastic surgeon and the plastic surgeon asked me how many years ago I got my procedure. I told him it was last month. He was so surprised because he says it’s been a while since he saw such a bad incision closing job. I had to spend 2000 more dollars to fix Dr Ochoa’s mess… and even after that I couldn’t get all the staple scars fixed. At least it looks a lot better, the plastic surgeon did his best. I wouldn’t even have had the staple scars if Dr Ochoa had stitched my incisionz Dr Ochoa is like one of those contractors you hire that rush through a job, and leave the work site messy at the end. I personally wouldn’t refer this surgeon out to anyone.

I have read several reviews of Dr. Robert A Ochoa, Jr. This young man is so outstanding. My husband spent several days in the SICU at Methodist Hospital. Dr. Ochoa saved his life. He was there late in the evening and right back in SICU early in the morning. He was extremely patient with us as a family, going over lab and test results. He answered all our questions. I placed my husband's life in his hands and Dr. Ochoa took excellent care of him. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Ochoa to anyone in need of an amazing, dedicated, caring physician.

Would not recommend him to a stray cat. He's terrible.

Made two requests to speak with him and he turned me down both times.
