Dr. Robert Kelley Otani, MD

I’m surprised that some staff at hospital told me that Dr. Otani was compassionate and understanding when it came to people who experience pain regularly. I’m quite positive at this point (I’ve seen him every month for almost a year) that he lacks compassion and seems to want recognition more than anything. He has good days and bad ones I’m finding, and I’m often left with an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach after leaving the office. I’m currently looking for someone else in the area, although before choosing Dr. Otani it was slim pickings as far as pain management in this county. They’re more concerned with getting everyone off opiates (after getting so many people addicted to opiates) than they are concerned about people with ACTUAL PAIN. Two separate things! True chronic pain sufferers are unlikely those that are addicted to opiates. I’m feeling sad that my impression of Dr. Otani changed over the months, as I really liked him in the beginning. I hope he’s able to… teach monthly pain management classes, as he was good at organizing those, by bringing guest speakers to speak about pain.

This doctor is the worst. You won't be able to get a hold of him. Does not monitor his interventions correctly. Nefligent care

He treated me unprofessionally, and undermined my diagnosed depression and chronic back pain, caused by my brother dying and working 3 jobs. I had x rays done and he never bothered to look at them. He decided I didn't fit his customer profile, even admitting to my face that I didn't make him enough money and when I demanded to know his reason for not providing me help he looked me in the eye angrily and yelled out for someone to call security to escort me out.
