Dr. Robert Clay Pennington JR., MD

I came to him with a problem and he made me feel belittled for my issue and made me feel ashamed!

Dr. Pennington has been my doctor for over twenty years. All of his staff members are caring, professional and courteous. My needs are always addressed. I highly recommend Dr. Pennington he is an excellent doctor!

The nursing and office staff are always courteous, responsive, caring and very professional. Dr. Pennington is highly skilled and has a genuine concern for each patient. He has a large patient load and always spends adequate time rendering his treatment and preventative care plans. His bedside manner is always candid and excellent. I have the highest regard and respect for his professional skills. He has a stellar reputation within the medical community in Durham and this has been shared with me during his referred visits for some of my specialized treatments including: labs, X-rays, physicians,specialists, technicians and druggiest. One of the highest compliments was that he should be teaching many of the other physicians in Durham on how to more effectively render treatment and manage their patient loads. Dr. Pennington and his staff are always prompt with scheduled appointments and has always found a way to work with my family members for appointments in an emergency or other… illness. Being proficient should not be construed by the others comments for not spending enough time with them. Dr. Pennington immediately diagnosed a severe medical condition that a surgical center had mis-diagnosed and was improperly treating. I'll always regret not seeing him first. He is a five star doctor.

Dr. Pennington does not explain his thought processes clearly and leaves it up to his nurse to explain tests that are ordered and what he suspects. It is very irritating when he leaves the room and says I'll be back and doesn't return for follow up questioning.

Dr. Pennington does not communicate with me effectively. He does not explain what the results of the examiniation are or what he is trying to diagnose. Also, he does not explain medications or how to take them and leaves the patient after the examination and lets the nurse come back and explain the tests, meds and follow up needed and why.
