Dr. Robert Lewis Pugh JR., MD

Dr. Pugh is the current physician with MSA Hospice in Murrells Inlet. My wife was placed with MSA after fighting cancer for over 4 years. Through our experience with MSA his recommendations seemed to be knee jerk increases in morphine which she was not tolerating well and did not seem to help her pain. When I requested we see him to discuss alternatives I was told he would call me the following morning and come see her the same day. Late in that afternoon when it seemed clear he would not call I took steps to transfer to another hospice service. Apparently he was notified and only then did he finally call. He told me about other responsibilities he was involved with that were apparently more important than my wife crying in pain. He then told me he called me in the morning and no one answered. The number was my cell which had no missed call and no voicemail. It cannot ring no answer. It is my opinion his statement was untrue. When I told him we were changing to another… service he abruptly said "fine" and hung up. I would not recomment Dr. Pugh for anyone, much less someone in their final days.

Finding Dr. Pugh has been the best thing to happen to my family. He and his staff are knowledgeable, friendly and always so thorough. Thank you DR. PUGH for always being available, and saving our lives time and time again! We love you Dr. Pugh

I was a patient for a few years and never felt he could be bothered to discuss issues , he is in and out of the room in just a few minutes. My last appointment was to discuss an ongoing ailment but he had no suggestions only see you in 2 months! I was told later by a high ranking medical professional in hospice care that he gives her pads of signed blank prescriptions to write as she sees fit, this makes me wonder if he wants to be a Dr or prefers we just tell him what to give us?! I needed help for a 20 year old Chronic pain - he never had any answers for the issues and now I doubt his ability and integrity- don't think I will be going to this months appointment!

If you like pain pills this is the doctor to see. So sad to see some medications he prescribes to pts that are not needed and are abused.

I have been going to Dr. Pugh for over 5 years now. Over the past 2 decades I have seen a couple doctors for various issues. Dr. Pugh is by far the best. He treats me with respect and takes an appropriate amount of time with me. It did not take long to build an outstanding doctor/patient relationship between he & I. He accurately diagnosed a couple issues that other doctors missed. Before finding Dr. Pugh I spent a lot of time going through the referral process. I was always treated like cattle. I haven't ever felt as comfortable with any doctor. He goes out of the way to keep my health up to par and does a good job explaining issues to me. I am truly glad to have such a great Doc! I also believe the post about adderral is someones weak attempt at discrediting Dr. Pugh. Pointing out it being a controlled substance (duh) and going on and on with some story that makes no sense to start with. Sounds like someone who is mad probably due to being identified as a junkie or dr shopper and… not getting what they wanted. A person could sit in his office for 15 minutes and realize his nickname so that is by no means any sort of validation this person or her husband/boyfriend knows him. Please visit the appropriate mental health facility for treatment!

Dr. Pugh is an excellent doctor. He is one of the most in-tune doctors I have ever had. He focuses on how I present both physically and verbally and is quickly able to assess what the problem is. I have been his patient for 8 years now and my husband and I have been to specialists and hospital ER's to only have confirmed EXACTLY what Dr. Pugh had already diagnosed. He is a gifted and caring care giver. I cannot say enough about how I respect his medical expertise!

Dr.Pugh is a good thorough Doctor. I do think because he does try to take time with his patients it causes backups in the office. What doctors office doesn't make you wait these days. As for the people bashing him and Calling him Chip. This is not Facebook and you aren't his friend. So you should refer to him as Dr.Pugh. I also am prescribed meds for ADHD and personally know Dr.Pugh. He will not just write scripts for Adderall as a previous person mentioned. And as far as his personal life it's none of your darn business.I can assure you he would never even drank while on call. I speak as a first hand witness. Stop trying to destroy peoples character because you probably went to get meds for no reason and he didn't help you like you aledge.

My entire family are patients of Dr. Pugh and we are all glad to have him as our doctor. He will answer all our questions.

Flippant answers such as "we're not going to think about that health ailment TODAY" during a medical appt with him.Uses term "Its ageing as reasons after which he quickly exits the room with no further explanation to the 84 yr old patient" such as fecal incontinence and severe acid reflux
