Dr. Robert Paul Quinn, MD

Dr. Quinn is my dad’s doctor when dad had a stroke. He’s very intelligent and caring. He will explain to you and his team the progress of pt. You can see that he is also well loved by his staff for they talked highly of him.

Dr. Quinn has been treating my son for about a year and I have found him to be an excellent doctor. He was assigned to my son when he was in rehab at Dominican for a brain injury. Dr. Quinn is professional, knowledgable and personable. I would recommend him highly.

Be careful around Dr. Quinn. He's the second biggest jerk of a doctor I ever met. I was in severe pain when I went to see him, with a very unstable herniated disc at L5/S1 and bulging discs at L4/5 & L3/4. Had already been through weeks of physical therapy and my PT wrote me up as unable to progress through PT, having a very bad time even with simple exercises. When I saw Dr.Quinn. He did not even have my MRI handy to look at as he was supposed to after the secretary said she's arrange for it, so he was approaching my case nearly blind. He forced me sit up in a chair the entire time - VERY PAINFUL to me for more than a few short minutes causing extremely bad pain radiating down my legs. Unless I was going to walk out, he left me no choice. There was a table right next to me I could have lied down on. Every time I told him it was very painful to remain sitting up and asked him if I could lay down, he kept telling me "no, we're almost done" - for the next 20 minutes. I was in… agony. Next, told me I should be on a "Boot Camp style aggressive exercise regime, outlining a very strenuous program. I told I could not even ride my bike gently without very bad pain, and he responded "I'm not talking about riding your bike gently, I'm talking about riding your bike HARD." Even the neurosurgeon I was seeing scolded me about doing ANY bike riding, and the neurosurgeon told me I had to quit my work involving moving textbooks around. When he wrote up my medical report, which got added to my permanent records. He implied I had psychological problems, asserted I should be on an aggressive exercise regime, and should go right back to my textbook work (mind you, involving lifting 60+ lbs. boxes routinely). Statements from his report were used against me in court during my injury lawsuit. During a visit to my primary care physician afterword, I was instructed not to see Dr. Quinn further. I'm not saying he doesn't help people. Just be VERY CAREFUL about what he tells you to do.

He is caring, kind, spends as much time as needed, is thorough and diagnosed my condition when nobody else (even the docs at Standford) could. His follow-up is excellent.

I have been a pt of his for several years. recently he has become too busy to stay focused on his pt's. He has an enormous ego. which is now getting in the way of his care. his bedside manner is" know it all." He makes judgments before he has information. He dosnt like to make referrals, or do tests. he figures he knows what to do without any of that information i guess. He has also become quite rude and disrespectful. which is when I finally fired him(which he hant noticed yet 6 months later..) and went on to someone who actually cares about me wihtout being rude or condisending. I have now great personal care and have had all the work up that I had been asking for, but was told "no". Turns out I have been sufferring a herniated disk for the last year and that is why i am in so much pain. surgury scedualed for next week. hopefully my symptoms have not gone on so long ignored; and will go away. It is possible that because it has taken so long to diagnose that they are permanent. That… will not have a happy ending for me or Dr Quinn. dont let this be you. go somewhere where you will be heard and cared for, and not insulted and humiliated in the process.

Dr. Quinn spent a great deal of time with me and was very careful and thoughtful in dealing with my problem. He never appeared to be rushed.
