Dr. Safinski delivered my daughter. I saw him through out my entire pregnancy, and felt he was a good doctor. I did get an indifferent vibe from him often, but stuck it out because my mom raved about what a great doctor he was. However, an appointment I had with him after my daughter was born made me decide to never go back to him. I was experiencing SEVERE breast pain/itching after nursing (worse than any labor pains I had experienced). Everything I read pointed to ductal thrush, which is thrush inside the milk ducts (as opposed to thrush on the breasts, which presents itself with a rash). I told him what was going on, and he said it wasn't thrush, because I had no rash, even though it's common that no rash is present with ductal thrush. I asked if it could be ductal thrush, and he said, "I've been practicing for over 30 years, and it would be very rare for it to be that". I asked him about treatment, and his answer was, "You'll just have to stop breast feeding". I was blown… away. He didn't offer to try any kind of treatment. He didn't say, let me do some research and I'll get back to you about the best way to move forward on this". Nothing. I left and decided I'd never go back. Two days later, I talked to my daughter's pediatrician (a big breast feeding advocate) and she said it sounded exactly like ductal thrush. She prescribed me an antibacterial/antifungal cream, and it went away. That was the nail in the coffin for me...I never went back to Safinski. Oh, and the fact that he introduced himself to my husband in the delivery room after meeting and seeing him 5+ times during my doctor appointments was a little disturbing too. Maybe not the greatest memory.

Dr. Safinski is supremely well-trained (University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital) by the best of the best. He follows in their footsteps with his patience (and also patients) and is eager to listen to any and all aspects of his patients sensitivities. HIGHLY a recommendable, honorable physician and person.
