Dr. Robert Joseph Schanzer, MD

Dr Schanzer is a good doctor. Unfortunately dealing with his staff makes it a very difficult experience. The receptionist DONNA is very rude, unintelligent, and disrespectful with no patience since I tried to reschedule an appointment. She couldn’t wait to get me off the phone and was extremely annoyed that I was asking so many questions. It’s really sad and pathetic to see Dr Schanzer has unprofessional people representing him in a professional environment! A doctors office/staff is supposed to make their patients comfortable especially if it’s a 79 yr old person. People fail to realize that without patients you’ve no job! Shame on you DONNA! The customer service environment is definitely not the place for you.

If you want to die from lack of care, I suggest Dr. Schanzer. Apparently, he doesn't know how to read an EKG test because my father has a totally useless tricuspid valve that Schanzer NEVER INFORMED HIM ABOUT. Thank god he went to Deborah for a second opinion, which the EKG TECHNICIAN caught the valve issue within minutes (she ran to grab the doctor to inform her). My father was swollen and completely full of fluid and was so swollen due to heart failure that they couldn't even insert a catheter to help relieve himself, but Dr. Schanzer just told him to take the water pill three times a day, instead of two. And this isn't only an issue with Dr. Schanzer; it is also with JFK Medical Center, which is where the doctor has privileges. There was a complete healthcare system failure in my father's situation. But, it starts with his cardiologist. The biggest mistake of my father's life is thinking this doctor knew what he was doing. Dr. Schanzer should be ashamed of himself for the absolute… lack of care he showed for his patient. I hope no one goes through what my father has. Do yourself a favor and just go to Deborah if you have any type of major heart issues. Dr. Schanzer cannot handle anything more than just writing a prescription.

Dr. Schanzer is the best cardiologist out there, compassionate, helpful, listens, sits with you answers all your questions, jokes around with my mom all the time and makes her smile. Would recommend him to everyone!!!!

Dr. Schanzer was compassionate. took the time to explain everything to me. His office staff made me feel comfortable.

I like Dr Schanzer but unfortunately dealing with his staff made it a horrible experience. From the front desk to the back office I'm not sure which was worse. The receptionist is very rude and callous and the one in the back is obnoxious and dishonest. The medical assistant seemed nice but not very medically educated. It is sad to see that Dr Schanzer has people representing him in that manner, needless to say I will not be back.

This Doctor saved my life where others would have had me dead. The other Doctors weren't listening to what I was saying and what I needed. He did and always does. He is the very best!!! I cannot say enough good things about him. His bedside manner is tops and you can tell right away that he genuinely cares about you as his patient. His office is very well run and his staff are friendly, kind, knowledgeable and always willing to help when needed.
