Dr. Robert Charles Sergott, MD

Dr. Sergott has been more knowledgeable and experienced with my health problem than any other physician in several states. He is at the forefront of inquiries into new medicines, research and treatments, and has exceptional judgment. I trust him completely. I travel ~400 miles for each appointment, and I have observed patients traveling from Europe to consult him. Any wait is well worth the time to be seen by this outstanding doctor. He will take the time he needs to help you, and is very kind and pleasant. I feel privileged to be his patient.

I ‘ve had very good experiences under Dr.Sergott’s care. He’s easy to talk to and he answers questions. His residents were also good.

I am sorry to say that I have had the most unacceptable interactions with this practice. My mother who has been told she likely has had a stroke affecting her vision has been trying to get in and see Dr. Sergote for months. The first appointmnet was "rescheduled" but we never received a call and I made it an hour to the office with my 81 year old mother who is on continuous oxygen in a wheelchair to be told the doctor needed to rescehdule. Angry & frustrated with the lack of attention to the patien we rescheduled and I took my Mom home. As we were approaching her 2nd appointment they rescheduled again (we are now 8 weeks out from the first time we called the office for an appointment). We were on our way again, today, and received a call 30 minutes prior to the appointment to say the doctor needed to reschedule again. Mind you my Mother was told she likely had a stroke which would need to be diagnosed by Dr. Sergote and a plan for my Mom's deteriorating vision would be… determined. It takes my Mom 2 hours to get ready to go out due to her health and this office disregarded, yet again, the patient. She not only has minimal vision right now but she is being disregarded by this practice & the physician who is suppose to be treating her. As a nurse this type of behavior is unacceptable and should my Mother end up with further complications as a result of their lack of attention to their patients I will seek further recourse so this doesn't happen to future patients.

No follow up needed but his diagnosis and advice were really on target. Was very definitive when other local specialists in my area were unsure. Busy practice, highly recommended.

I have only visited him once (so far) He was very through and took time to explain what was going on with my eyes. He also took time to send me a letter to share with my primary so I didn't have to remember what he said. A follow up appointment is made and I am doing that in a couple of months.

Had a lot of paperwork to do - took a long time. Appt. was on time because I was an hour early. A different doctor examined me- spent a lot of time with me and was very nice and very thorough. Dr. Sargott came in for a couple minutes , acted like I was not there except for my eye. Proceeded to examine the eye and then turned away from me and started to dictate notes. He finally gave me a diagnosis and I wanted to ask some questions. He answered a couple- suggested another Doctor -all the while all I saw of him was his BACK. He never spoke to me facing me ! Twice he had come into the room, and shook my son's hand and said hello- but NOT to me. He never addressed me by name- just said "let's look at that eye". I am glad I got a diagnosis, but did not like his manner. I got there at 1 PM saw him at around 5ish. Guess he was in a hurry to leave. So was I ! I had waited over 3 months to see him, had traveled 3 1/2 hours and been in his office area for 4 hours. Thought he could… have been nicer. Guess it is just a business to him. Cost $24.00 to park in their lot , and with other travel expenses it cost me over $100 for the trip. Living on SS that is a lot . A least I got a suggestion to see someone else closer to my home area.

I could not recommend Dr. Sergott any less. He was horrible. Couldn't have cared less about me when delivering my diagnosis. When I asked him for proof of the diagnosis, he acted like he couldn't be bothered at all. His assistant also seemed to imply that he did not agree with Sergott's opinion. Find another Doctor. This one only cares about his University classes and prestige.

because of his medical statues Dr. Sergott is definately the go to guy in his field.

I know a well respected and capable doctor will take longer to see at the appt. So that did not bother me. He was extremely reassuring to me and took many notes regarding my multiple maladies concerning my eyes and other systems in my body. He raised the question of a serious condition and immediately wanted a follow-up visit at Wills Eye along with sending a report to all my specialists, including a cardiologist and myself. He was as sympathetic and cordial as any doctor I have known. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who requires his specialty.

It should be understood that Dr. Sergott is a professor in addition to a medical professional. For those of you who have experienced "rudeness" or "miscommunication" with his back turned it is because Dr. Sergott in addition to diagnosing and providing proper tests, is in the process of teaching residents throughout the entirety of his patient exams. As a Doctor his goal is to care for others, provide treatment and see that you are well. I cannot complain, thank, and believe Dr. Sergott was courteous and respectful seeing as he is a busy man.
