Dr. Robert Morris Smith, MD

Dr. Robert Morris Smith, MD, PhD, is a family medicine physician with deep experience in adult and senior care. He earned his MD from St. George's University School of Medicine and completed his family practice residency at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, New Jersey. He practiced in family medicine across outpatient, inpatient, urgent care, occupational health, and pain management settings; led as Center Medical Director; served as Chief of Family Medicine; and taught as an adjunct professor and preceptor. He cared for large panels of older adults and emphasized active listening, prevention, and chronic disease management, with interests in brain health, nutrition, and heart health. He also brought a PhD in Clinical Psychology to his patient centered approach, integrating behavioral insights to improve outcomes. Outside of medicine, he enjoyed woodworking and, together with his wife, raising Doberman Pinschers and Maine Coon cats.
