Dr. Robert Smithson

After 14 years had to have surgery. Was surprised to have no follow-up by Dr, Smithson or his team. After 2 months of silence made contact and was surprised at his immediate defensive and then aggressive attitude. So I left and have been saving his monthly stipend while interviewing NON CONCIEGE Doctors.

Could not diagnose condition that I ended up having to do myself by researching it online. My self diagnosis was reaffirmed by another doctor and then treatment began by that doctor. Also he kept recommending a product that I came to find he has an interest in for financial reasons

Dr. Robert Smithson is a valued physician. He is keenly astute of the need for total wellness and well-being. He provides attentive care, and is careful to encourage patients that they are their greatest health advocate in the prevention of disease, and in the management of disease states. Again, a valued physician.

I once saw Dr. Smithson about some adult acne I got on my back and shoulder area. He proceeded to tell me I had "bad skin". I was livid. When you see a physician, you want a solution, not a sweeping judgment or commentary on the quality of your skin. Another time I saw him was because I was ill with a respiratory infection. He basically misdiagnosed me and said it was just a virus and did not put me on antibiotics. I proceeded to go away for a week's vacation and got worse (the infection went into my ear). When I got back from vacation, I saw him again and apparently I had bronchitis (not a virus) and a new ear infection. If the bronchitis wasn't bad enough, I had to get an ear tube in my ear and had tinnitus (ringing in my ear) for a year afterwards. If I had gone to a more capable physician, I would have been treated appropriately and could have perhaps avoided an ear infection. I no longer see Dr. Smithson and was disappointed with his absurd comments and lack of… appropriate care.

Robert Smithson has been my family doctor for 20 years. He has followed up with me by phone after appointments as well as seen me on a Saturday when I had the flu. He takes a personal approach to healthcare and spends time with you during the office visit. I appreciate the fact that he worked with me when Aetna insurance was not an approved insurance for UNC Hospitals. I was able to keep Boylan Medical as my healthcare provider during this time because he was willing to work with me keeping my out of pocket cost down. I recommend Dr Smithson to anyone who is looking for a healthcare professional.
