Dr. Robert Franklin Spencer, MD

If you review his ratings, you'll notice that some people loved Dr. Spencer and others, at least a few, apparently hated him. The interventional pain management part of his practice (which closed in early 2016) was devoted to use of injections to diagnose and treat the causes of pain--rather than relying on medication to mask the pain (even before the opiate crisis was widely recognized). Clearly some people benefit from these injections and some don't. (Some people benefit from medications and some don't.) Dr. Spencer also consulted for patients who were receiving hospice or palliative care--separate from his outpatient practice. Earlier in his career he also worked in a hospital pain clinic coordinating a wider range of services. Love him or hate him? You can decide for yourself.

If you like being a pin cushion, this is the doctor for you. Every spinal injection only increased my pain.

Pain management here is all about epidurals and other of the same type of injections. Except that each shot made me progressively worse and was incredibly painful during it. I was in so much pain I passed out during one and they left my husband out in the waiting room for nearly 2 hours without telling him what was going on. My primary finally pulled me from his practice when she could get no guidance on my medications.

Dr. Spencer is a very caring Dr who looks out for the best interest of his patients. In dealing with my injury he has been the one doctor who seems to care that I am in constant pain and works hard to help find a solution.
