Dr. Robert Kempton Steadman, MD

From my experience Dr. Steadman is all about hammering out as many procedures in a day and not so much about the quality. I had a surgery where my jaw had to be cut away, and the Dr. didn't even stitch me up and I can feel jagged parts of my jaw bone protruding through where my gums SHOULD BE

We were treated very well. The staff was so nice and a very quick procedure for wisdom teeth.

As a previous review stated in 2015, this uncleanly, unprofessional, and untimely doctor's office failed to meet up to even their first impression. Upon entrance, the entire room smelt of stale smoke, indicating the office was not cleanly or sterile. We had an appointment in the afternoon, arrived on time, and then waited... For an hour. Aspen only had one other patient with them that day, and we had to wait an hour without getting to the extraction of widom teeth. We never got to see Dr. Steadman, as we left promptly after we heard the front desk attendance say something along the lines to the other patient's family that "we could only remove one tooth, so she has three left. And according to our policy, she can never come back." We drove 2 hours in deep snow to get wisdom teeth removed due to a referral from our dentist. If you are referred here, don't go and do whatever you can to change your insurance plan. Lucky to still be alive, Dissatisfied client

Dr. Steadman is amazing and the assistants are great.. However the front desk lady Linda is so rude, she makes it impossible to make appts, she doesn't listen to patients and she thinks she knows everything.. She is rude rude rude

Reception very rude will not work with you at all Very Very rude on phone. Dr S teams always to busy to ex plane anything to you, But stills a nice man unless you smoke then he won't talk to you and walks away (akward]

Dr. Steadman was great, the office staff, a very uncaring bunch. I asked them to send a claim form to my insurance, they said they would so I didn't worry about it. This procedure cost me over 1500 which I paid in full expecting to be reimbursed by my insurance. At my follow up appointment I asked the receptionist if the claim was sent, oh yes it was. I called the insurance and they had not received it. They called the office and said they would forward the message to the billing department. They would not give a name to follow up with. I have paid the in full all I was asking was a claim to be sent to my insurance, they had a very uncaring attitude. I will ask my regular dentist not to refer them again

I had a refferal from my dentist to go to Aspen Oral and Facial to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I had driven 3 hours to Spokane to their office. Right off the bat, I was almost an hour and a half late for my appointment because of them making me wait in the waiting room. They simply were chatting about how they were going to be taking a plane the next day to Portland, and discussing who wants to sit in which seats. Also, in the long waiting period, I had heard multiple phone conversations with people calling in and the receptionist having an attitude with every single one of them. That made me feel uncomfortable and I hadnt even been seen yet. Finally, the nurse came out and said that I can go in for my XRAY now but I had to first take out all of my facial piercings. It was no problem but I was having trouble with my lip ring. I told her I don't know if it'll come out, and that I need to call my mom who was in the parking lot to come and help me. The nurse replied with "Well it better… come out or we cant do anything"...which would have been fine if she would have left out the attitude she used towards me. Finally, I got out my 3 piercings and she took me back to get xrayed. The mouth piece I'm hoping was clean and steril, however she never threw away the one that was in my mouth when we were done. She sent me back out into the waiting room for another 15 mins. (Keep in mind the staff consists of 1 nurse, 1 receptionist, and the 1 surgeon). They were all just sitting around chatting this whole time. I finally get back to one of the rooms and the surgeon and nurse had explained the procedure, possible complications (barely), and where to go pick up my medication after I was done. I then sat there for another 5-10 min and then was taken to another room for the procedure. The nurse then placed the oxygen/nitrus mask on me and explained that it will be oxygen at first, and she'll slowly add in the nitrus. I will say now that I don't believe I recieved any nitrus. I heard it is suppose to relax you, you can almost smell it when they turn it on, and you can obviously tell when you are inhaling it. Not once did I experiance this....which makes me believe they billed the state (I have state insurance) for me using niturs when I do not believe I did. I truly believe it was just oxygen. After I got the mask on, the nurse put a numbing paste on my gums where the surgeon would have to poke me with the needles. After telling the nurse I am terrified of needles and do not do well when I have to get poked with them, I felt better they numb my gums with the paste first. Well after she did that, she left the room for yet ANOTHER 15 min! By the time she finally came back with the doctor, the numbing gel completely wore off. I had informed her as soon as she came back that I was no longer numb, and that I can feel my gums again, all she said was "Oh it's fine. You'll be fine." She was WRONG. They laid me back in the chair, the oxygen nose mask was still on, and the doctor then began to poke me with the needles in the gums. Yes, it hurt really bad...but once he poked the needle into the inside of my gum, what felt like the roof of my mouth, the pain was something I had never in my life felt before. I let out a yell in pain and tears instantly were flowing down my face. The doctor then stopped what he was doing and very angrily and sternly told me "You can NOT yell in here. You can NOT scream! Now we can just stop what we're doing here and you can get up and leave. We will not do anything you do not want us to do! I'll give you a minuet." THEN he and the nurse just stood over me as I uncontrollably cried! I have never in my life experienced anything like this. I've never been treated this way by and dentist or doctor. I was frozen in fear from not only the pain, but from the way he spoke to me when HE stuck the needle into my mouth when HE knew it wasn't even numb because HE took too long getting back to the room!!!! So after about 2 min of me crying, he asked if I was ready to move on. I couldn't find any words so I just nodded yes, and kept silently crying. He continued poking the rest of my mouth and as he began pulling my wisdom teeth out, yes I was pretty numb, but I could still feel the pain of the final pulls. I was almost moaning in pain and was just told to squeeze the arm rests. The nurse just kept telling me to breath in through my nose into the mask...Like that even did anything! Nothing but oxygen was in it!!! Finally, I was done. They sat me up in the chair and left me for another 5-10 min without saying a word. When the nurse came back in, she just told me I could go now and to grab my purse. I did and walked out into the waiting room and met my mom. Because I felt like I couldn't say anything, not only because my mouth was full of gauze, but because the way I was talked to and treated like I was in the wrong, I just looked at my mom with my eyes screaming at her that something was wrong. The nurse told my mom where we go to pick up my meds and sent us on our way. The second we stepped into the hall and that door closed, I absolutely LOST it. I cried uncontrollably for 15 min. Trying to find the words to tell my mom what I just experienced. I can not believe the way everybody acted...I can't believe this really happened to me. I can't believe I even went there without reading REVIEWS of this sick place of a surgeons office! Turns out, I am not the only one who has had a horrid experience.

My 14 y/o son has all 4 wisdom teeth extracted at once. After a fiasco getting an appointment and some confusion about that appointment after we arrived, Dr. Stedman took my son into a back room. About 15 minutes later they returned with all four teeth out, and my kid very wobbly on his feet. There was no follow up, no nothing. I was very surprised. When I had my wisdom teeth out it was considered major surgery. This was less time and effort than a simple cleaning. Strange I thought. The staff were horrible, nasty, gossips while I was in the waiting room.

My teeth started deteriorating and breaking in two after I had chemo and radiation to treat my cancer. I needed to have all my teeth extracted and to get dentures. On that day, I was escorted to a dark, regular room with a dental chair and that's about all. The dentist nearly stood on me and the chair so he could break my teeth up and pull them out. It hurt so bad that at one point I screamed a bit and my right hand came up from under the bib thing just from instinct. He said something like "don't be lifting any arms up here". After he was done, he shoved my shiny, new dentures into my bloody, swollen face and then he simply left the room. I was literally in shock. Blood was everywhere, I felt faint and nauseated... during it, I kept thinking "there is a hospital across the street! They will come help me!" it was the only thing that kept me from passing out was the fact that I was so near to a medical facility. I'm not one of those people that uses this term for everything… they don't like but, I honestly felt like he had just done more than yank my teeth.. almost as if it was more personal like an assault. A very quiet, very young girl escorted me out to the waiting room. I was bleeding badly and I felt like my eyes were going to pop out of their socket due to being so wide eyed with shock. My husband got up from his chair and his smile left immediately and was replaced by an open mouth... apparently ALSO in shock. He put his arms around me and got me out the door where I fell apart. I cried and cried. So much crying mixed with the blood. He got me to the car where I tried to explain to him what just happened and couldn't come up with words for it because I wasn't even sure about what happened. I have had nightmares about it a lot in the 2 1/2 years since this happened and can't seem to get it gone! It keeps recurring when I sleep! This man can't possibly be a dentist. He's a monster. With permission to terrorize you and assault you. Shame on you, Steadman. I can't even bring myself to call you by the title "Dr.". I hope you figure out just what your problem is and get it fixed before you damage more people like me.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted on a Friday afternoon. I had met once with Dr.Steadman for about 5 minutes prior to the surgery and that was it. He didn't take the time to answer my questions thoroughly (even though there was no one waiting behind me). Following the surgery I was prescribed oxycodones, which he failed to mention that not only do they cause nausea but so did the antibiotics. Therefore I started uncontrollably throwing up after only a couple hours after surgery, my husband called the after hours number to find out what to do, he was told (by a drunk doctor who burped on the phone) to give me a couple advil (when oxycodones were barely cutting the pain). We ended up going to the emergency room and was given a prescription for nausea. Then on top of all that, I have a "numb tongue" in all lightly hood because the doctor nicked a nerve or something. My husband called to find out if it was normal for my tongue to still be numb after 72 hours and they told him I… signed a consent form that informed me of the rare possibility of this happening. And that they would address it in a week on my post op appointment. I would never recommend this doctor. There were two people on his staff that I did like, however the front desk women had horrible customer service skills too.
