Dr. Robert Lee Steinberg, MD

I saw Dr. Steinberg for a year and a half. Over that year in a half he focused solely on my negative progress and none at all on my positive progress. This made me feel incompetent and hopeless to move forward in all aspects of my recovery. He would prescribe me the same medications over and over again even though I clearly told him they were not working for me. Dr. Steinberg’s bed side manner is also terrible. He is the opposite of understanding. He may come off that way at first impression because he is quiet and awkward but whenever I actually opened up to him he would often chuckle under his breath and then only respond with a shake of the head and an ok. I cannot believe I stuck seeing him for so long. I would not recommend to anyone. There are so many good caring providers out there that actually want to listen to you and help without judgement. On a side note, his wife the receptionist is also awful. She was demeaning and rude so often. For paying out of pocket and such a high… price I would expect to be treated much more kind.

Dr. Steinberg does have a wait but that is because he genuinely cares about his patients. He takes his time to listen to all concerns and does not treat you like a factory. IF you want a MD with compassion, integrity and skill this is the man.

Dr Steinberg is a highly insightful and competent psychiatrist, who has helped me isolate a correct combination of medications when no other physician could. *Very* responsible with respect to emergency calls or needs for prescriptions (in opposition to what other reviewer has said). Only quirk is that Dr Steinberg tends to hyper-talk *himself* when with patients and perhaps needs to listen more carefully. :-) All said, this is a trivial eccentricity and I would recommend Dr Steinberg unreservedly for his high level of care and professionalism.

We have recommended Dr. Steinberg to a number of friends and colleagues. He has made a significant difference in our lives.

After three days of trying to refill a prescription through his office he had not refilled despite my calls. I would recommend him to no one.
