Dr. Robert Michael Stern, MD

Dr. Stern was tremendously helpful to me during a vulnerable time in my life. I have always struggled with feeling vulnerable and as a result have had a hard time trusting people. This has led me to close many people out and not deal directly with my feelings or emotions. Dr. Stern's demeanor, professionalism and expertise in his field made me feel safe and provided me with an opportunity to open up. Feeling safe was the first step and my healing process. After a year of therapy, I continue to gain valuable insight from each appointment. More importantly I have found hope and regained trust.

I have been seeing Dr. Stern for close to 5 years now. Both of my sisters died under tragic circumstances and I nearly lost my mind. Dr. Stern has kept me alive when all I wanted to do was die. He diagnosed me with PTSD because of the nightmare life I have lived and I believe it was an accurate diagnosis. I would not want any other Doctor treating me.

Dr. Stern is a very nice guy. He's easy to feel comfortable with, and be honest to. He also has a cheery disposition. His special talent seems to be in his emotional understanding and compassion, and his work on interpersonal / family issues that go beyond just the individual patient.

I have worked with Dr. Stern for close to 20 years. I worked with him in the hospital setting as well as outpatient. He is the first doctor who proved me wrong. I didn't believe I could stay out of the hospital with just outpatient treatment, but I have done just that since I started working with him outpatient about 14 years ago. Dr. Stern is kind, compassionate, caring, and cautious with medication. He is always present and attentive to me in my appointments and always was when I was in the hospital. He readily acknowledges his mistakes and he has sincerely changed his behavior to make me more comfortable in my therapy. He's also on the optimistic side, which is not true of all therapists. After all these years, he is still right on time for our appointments. Dr. Stern is protective of his patients, in a good way.

I have known Dr. Stern for over 20 years and he has been a god send to me. He has helped me and my family through many tough situations & for that I am truly grateful. Without him I don't know where I would be right now. He is always there when I need him, always just a phone call or email away. He is very patient, understanding & caring to my problems. I'm very glad to have met him all those years ago and to still have him today.

Wow...the things I put him through! And he never let me down. He was right there when I needed help just to get through each day. He was patient with me and my 19+ personalities. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be the whole person I am today.

If it were not for Dr. Stern, I would not be alive today. My sister committed suicide in 2011 and I went into a very deep depression. I have been seeing Dr. Stern ever since and I am starting to come to terms with my sister's death.

Dr. Stern is deeply talented in his immediate understanding of what the problem is. As an intuitive guide of the dark, tropical jungles of the psyche, teeming with unknown dangers and possible fatal miss-steps, Dr. Stern seems to know the nearly obscured trails which lead back into the light and alas, to ultimate safety: the object of therapy without a doubt. I recommend Dr. Stern above all who practice in this illusive business of psychiatry as the best ever. Fifty stars!!!

This psychiatrist is #1. I've been with him for over eight years and I hope to be with him for that many more, at least. He is an incredible listener. He is also caring and committed, humble, and, right there with you. I have been blessed to have found him.However, the one shortcoming of being a long term patient of his is his overlooking the interplay of medication. I think he might get too close to the situation and forget about that aspect. Otherwise, he is A#1 and deserves many kudos.
