Dr. Robert J Stomel, DO

Having worked in healthcare myself, I have rarely seen the level of care Dr. Stomel has provided. He took the time to discuss multiple options and really dig down to the long term causes of issues. Furthermore, he took the time to explain and talk through what he was thinking and why. This is the type of Doctor more patients need to be able to see.

Dr Stomel said my Mom needed a stent. My Mom went to the hospital and the cardiac surgeon ran the camera up to her heart and said there was nothing wrong with her heart. Wow I read that he had 40yrs cardiac experience. My parents are not happy and will never go back to him or refer him to anyone either.

I have been seeing Dr. Stomel for almost 5 years and he is wonderful. He is prompt, attentive and a great diagnostician. A good bedside manner to boot.

I find it odd that the excellent reviews listed below are all anonymous. It doesn't take a genius to figure out who is writing them. Actions speak louder than words! Horrible patient care and staff.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Stomal after she was diagnosed with Afib. She was impressed with him on the first visit as he stressed how he is always availbale to his patients 24/7. She called his office after experiencing shortness of breath at which time his staff instructed her to go to the ER which she did. The ER tests were inconclusive so they recommended her to follow up with Dr. Stomal and get a stress test and possibly cardiac medications adjusted. they instructed her to see him within 5-7 days. the following morning she called to make the appointment and spoke to the receptionist who told her there were no openings until the following month (over 25 days from ER visit). She asked to have Dr. Stomal call her and or the nurse. She never heard back from them so she called again and got their answering service due to the office being closed during from 12-1300 for lunch. Long story short, the nurse called her to tell her that she would need to see another cardiologist if she… needed to be seen sooner but it wouldn't be anyone in their clinic as they were all booked. I called to speak to the nurse to see if I was getting the whole story. when I called I stated who I was and the receptionist put me on hold for 10 minutes then the receptionist got on the phone and was extrememely short with me. She told me "ER doctors always tell patients to follow up with their doctors in 5-7 days regardless if it's serious", I have worked in hospitals for most of my career and to say something as negligent as that is unacceptable and not true. Then she went on to say how the doctor doesn't have time to call his patients. I then asked to speak with the office manager and she told me they were out on vacation and so I asked for whomever was in charge, she gave me a name and then hung up on me. Dr. Stomal left that day without returning her call and according to the receptionist, he will be on vacation for the following week. So dissappointed with this doctor and his staff. How do physicians stay in practice with this kind of patient care?

This so called doctor must have a pretty miserable life. It is the only explanation for his dislike of women and the rudeness he shows toward them. I spent less than 5 minutes with him and his insulting behavior towards me was unprofessional and uncalled for. We do not need this in Prescott Valley or anywhere in healthcare.
