Dr. Robert M Strauss, MD

Very thorough, helped me feel better about an issue I was very concerned about. Calm and respectful.

First, he was over an hour late. Staff announces "wait" times to entire wait room. His staff fails to transcribe information accurately from patient written history. He is a rude, arrogant doctor who asks questions without waiting for patient to provide an answer. His jumped to conclusions before even examining me, refused to believe that I can manage a diet control disease and just lectured me about cross contamination. Despite nearly 2 decades of perfect control of this disease, he instantly decided that was the ONLY possible issue. I left feeling as sick or worse than before.

Dr. Strauss was willing to spend time to understand the problem but ultimately became arrogant, close-minded, and dismissive, totally unwilling to cooperate with other physicians who were seeking answers to the GI issues by referring me to his practice. Even after accommodating HIS suggestions, this did not result in any change nor willingness to actually find the causes of GI distress beyond his initial impression. Amazingly, when I informed him to be on the look out for a particular condition during a follow up procedure (as noted in my medical records) he flat out said it wasn't possible for that to be there (even before he started) and that I must be mistaken. Of course it was there. Frankly I've never encountered such an adversarial physician before.

Waited over an hour for the first office appt of the day. Dr. offered no apology or recognition of my wait. A simple "sorry for the wait" would have done the trick. He did ask relevant questions in an attempt to discover a diagnosis.

Dr. Strauss was compassionate and caring as was all of his medical team.

Dr. Strauss has a HORRIBLE bedside manner, is rude, judgemental, and uncompassionate. He was on the phone dealing with other business DURING my visit and treated me as if he didn't have time for me. I walked away with no answers to my own problem and frustrated that I'd wasted half of my morning going to see him. I would not recommend him to anyone and will not see him again. See ANY other GI specialist before you see Strauss.

Not much personality, I guess he knows what he is doing. His staff is great.

Dr. Strauss released my father too soon from the hospital with a bleeding ulcer. The next day at home my father called into Dr. Strauss's office 2x and spoke to a PA who told him it was normal to feel dizzy and lack of appetite for up to 3 days after an endoscopy. My father woke up in pain that night and passed away before the paramedics could revive him. Dr. Strauss REFUSES to sign the death certificate and REFUSES to give us a cause of death.
