Summary
Rob Tomsett brings a lifetime of hands-on medicine shaped by an uncommon upbringing and deep service. One of six children, he was born in Stuttgart, Germany as an “Army brat” and later became a “preacher’s kid,” moving often with his family. After a few years of college he followed his father’s path into service, joining the Army as a combat medic with the 82d Airborne at Fort Bragg. He went on to serve as a Paramedic, Flight Medic and Special Forces Medic, earned his Physician Assistant degree from the University of Texas in 1995 and his Master’s from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1997. After 24 years in uniform, he retired in 2006 and calls himself proudly from “The State of Confusion” — a nod to a life spent moving and serving across many communities.
Dr. Tomsett blends over 35 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Flight Medicine and Pain Management with a passion for old‑fashioned, patient-centered care and modern clinical …rigor. He has served as a Compliance Officer and holds certification in Health Care Compliance, has extensive travel and mission medicine experience (including mission trips to Mexico and Africa), and values practical, community-rooted care—he often jokes he was “born 150 years too late” and would have been content as a country doc delivering babies or helping neighbors. His approach is steady, practical, and informed by high-stakes field medicine and contemporary primary care best practices.
His areas of expertise and the services he commonly provides include:
- Family medicine / primary care and continuity care
- Urgent and emergency medicine informed by battlefield and flight experience
- Flight medicine and air medical/medevac clinical insight
- Special Forces–level trauma and critical care skills
- Pain management and chronic pain oversight
- Travel medicine and mission-focused health services
- Health care compliance, clinical quality, and practice safety
- Community outreach and family-centered care
Outside the clinic, Rob has been married to his wife Julie since 1989 and is a proud father of four adult children. The family is closely involved in the clinic and community, and Rob enjoys flying his drone, fishing, shooting sports, and cheering on his favorite teams. His bedside manner reflects a blend of country-doc compassion and modern medical expertise—approachable, practical, and steadfastly committed to helping patients.
