Dr. Robert Brent Turnipseed, MD

I was motivated to make an appointment, but when I read some (or most) of the reviews, I was glad he did not accept new patients. The positive reviews may not seem factual.

Usually I don't write any reviews, but I want someone else to avoid what i went through in Roots Behavioral Health. I left dramatized and crying only after few visits there. They care only about your money, have strange rules and better loose the client that do an extra step to help. Dr Turnipseed is not taking new clients, but you will figure it our only when you will come to first appointment, so they lie when you call them to check. Then you will have to complete many forms online, so when you will get the green light to get the appointment you will ignore red flags as you aldy spent time to get in. And then you will see dr Turnipseed for 5 min and continue with his specialists. Admin team is also very limited as can't take any decisions and every single detail need to check and call you back. You can't get appointment for a long time and after checking with which specialist you dont want to meet, they still put you with that person and refuse to change, so my half a year battle… with them gave only worse health and zero help. AVOID.

This place was nice but the way they treat people is not. I was shocked to see a girl crying, they kicked her out without explanation and she begged for the prescription but receptionist was saying only sorry we can't help you, you have to leave or we will call the police. I felt for that girl, she came for help and got treated so badly. I changed my doctor same day. I don't want to be treated same when I am miserable and super sensitive. There is no heart there...

It was very painful experience that made my health much worse, not better, so don't waste your time as they will kick you out the minute you need something else. I was promised by Dr. Turnipseed that I can change the doctor in his office but office manager didn't allow me to do that, didn't allow me to talk to Dr Turnipseed or the new doctor I wanted and been seen. During my second visit she also assured me that I can continue seeing her and not the first doctor. The reason was, that we didn't click, sometimes it happens and I didn't trust her as she just said to discontinue my main drug and see how I will feel. I couldn't risk and second doctor agreed that I should not discontinue it. Sadly, I never got the third visit and they just said they don't want me as a client if I won't continue seeing first doctor. Period. The process to get at first place isn't easy and short. You need to fill long application and proves from previous doctors. Before I did that I was assured that Dr.… Turnipseed is taking new clients and will see me, but when I got through the paperwork and wanted to set up my first appointment they said he is NOT TAKING ANY NEW CLIENTS and I will be seen by someone else. He visited me during my second visit and assured that I can continue with a new doctor (first one was on maternity leave), but it never happen. The way they kicked me out shocked me and left me crying, panicking and WIHOUT any tablets I so needed then. They said they will give one month refill while I will find a new doc, but when pharmacy called them for it, they refused.

Testing

Root Behavioral Health does not want to help you. I had to miss my first appointment due to an emergency and they wouldn’t let me reschedule ever. They don’t really seem to care about helping people with a policy like that. And they don’t tell you about the policy beforehand either. After you’ve spent over an hour getting your entire history absolutely perfect in their online system first. You can’t make an appointment until you do. They’re clear about that. But they definitely do not tell you that if you have to miss your appointment you are BANNED! Ridiculous policy. It was literally my first appointment. Roots, you should really tell people things like that but it won’t matter if you were like me and had a completely unavoidable situation. But definitely make sure you don’t get sick or get in a car accident or your car doesn’t start or anything. Oh and you’ll probably have to go back to your doctor and get a new referral for a new place and fill out the same paperwork again. I’m so… glad the psychological industry is really trying to help people that want to help themselves. I’m sure some other professionals out there are helpful. But Roots’s Behavioral Health IS NOT HELPFUL.

Dr. Turnipseed is all the reviews say. He's thorough, kind, and attentive to my issues. I'd highly recommend as well.

Dr. Turnipseed was a relief after seeing two other psychiatrists recently and feeling unhappy with their style and recommendations. He listened, didn't rush me, and accurately diagnosed me with OCD (I was told I have bipolar and anxiety by other doctors). I am now on a med for OCD, seeing an OCD therapist, and feeling the best in years.

I lucked out with becoming a patient of this wonderful doctor, and in doing so it has changed my life for the better. There are a handful of doctors who don't want to throw pills at you (leaving you to feel as though you are a lab rat) and he is one of them. Also doesn't really associate himself with drug reps so he doesn't recommend whatever the reps are peddling, instead recommending medication he stands by. Words can't describe how great he is.

My PCP told me I needed to see a psychiatrist for anxiety and depression. She recommended Dr. Turnipseed and it's been a good experience all around. I was worried I would be on a bunch of meds but I just take one, and one as needed. No complaints and I would recommend him to anyone, especially if you're uncomfortable seeing a psychiatrist. He makes you feel heard and at ease.
