Dr. Robert Edward Urrea, MD

I have been through so many doctors and I have never experienced what Mr urea did for me after my surgery was postponed for the next day . He brought me home and got me some orange juice and health bar to tie me over. . What a blessing he is to all who have the pleasure. Thank you so much and God bless you!

I am a registered nurse and was first diagnosed by Dr. Urrea in 2008 with herniated disc L5-S1 and was treated with pain Rx's as needed. No surgical intervention was necessary back then and I managed over the years. In the past couple years, overexertion and multiple sports injuries including crossfit aggravated my condition and I began to have pain down my right leg. At the urging of my wife, I went back last year in Oct 2017 for follow up and then found out I had another herniated disc that was compressing my spine causing the pain in my right leg. Surgery was recommended. I also opted for spinal injections, which temporarily alleviated my pain. I went ahead with surgery in May of 2018 and had surgery for discectomy at L4-L5 and L5-S1 with laminectomies. I am now about 3 months post op and my pain is almost completely gone. I no longer have the pain I once did and I've even started working out again (no more crossfit!). Dr. Urrea is professional, courteous and tells you like it is.… His PA Jose is excellent and staff is kind. I don't know what the other reviewer mentioned about staff being rude, this is simply not the case and false. I also failed to mention that Dr. Urrea has operated on my mother, father and myself and we all have regained our abilities to move and get our lives back without debilitating pain. My first and only option would be Dr. Urrea.

Very Compassionate with patients. He has great bedside manner, which puts the patient at ease. Would recommend him to others, needing his expertise. Also thought staff, and PA were quite compentent and accomodating.

This Dr. has given my life back to me. I went from extreme pain to 37 days after 2 days of surgery.I was able to push my wife in a wheel chair on a marvelous trip to Istanbul, Turkey to Vienna, Austria! I am pain free.

Dr Urrea is a great Dr and very trustworthy, I would not trust a back surgery to no other Dr. Very unfortunate though that he has a horrible PA, Calderon and staff, that are both rude and unfriendly. I changed Drs because I had been been treated by Urrea for several issues, his PA decides to give me a medication that requires a Prior Auth bit when going back for the followup tells me that after all these years there's nothing wrong with me that I'm making up my pain, that my complaints are irrelevant and are not true, I have never been so humiliated in my life. No one to complaint to, when I told him I would let Dr Urrea know he stated that he doesn't want to hear me and practically said he wouldn't care to listen. It's bad because I'm sure I'm not the only one they treat like crap! Sad thing is in have to come tinue to give them my money because I have family that still have to have to go see them. The girls in that office don't have a sense of their work professionalism and look like… they don't want to be there and are bothered by the patients. They should change profession they don't belong in that field of business. To bad for DR Urrea I wish he knew what goes on and if he does know, I'm more disappointed. Will never recommend anyone to that office.

Dr. Urrea treated me for herniated l-4-L-5 disc condition. I was in very severe pain and burning sensation up and down my left leg. He operated on me about two weeks ago and I feel 100% better today. I am still recuperating but I have absolutely no pain or burning sensation in my leg. He is a total professional and was very up front and compassionate in his interaction with me. Highly recommend him unconditionally..

Dr. Urrea, We met approximately one year ago, when you removed a fragmented disc from my nerve canal. Your confidence and decisiveness in your treatment plan made an impression on me. The picture of the Great Physician in your office confirmed what I already thought. I have shared my positive experience with others and when my wife was diagnosed with a pinched nerve, the next step was a no brainer. Following a lengthy surgery, she is doing well. I cannot express how much it meant to both of us when you prayed with us before the surgery. I also want to commend your office staff, which I feel are exceptional, especially in todayâ??s culture where customer service tends to be non-existent in other organizations. Christina, at the front desk, is always pleasant and does a great job of greeting patients and making them feel comfortable. Jose Calderon is a fantastic member of your team, who takes the time needed to help patients understand their medical issue and explain what can be… expected in their treatment plan. Jessica wowed me by being able to answer specific questions related to my wifeâ??s records without hesitation and having to put us on hold. Prior to my wifeâ??s surgery, I called and asked if she had received our pre-surgical clearance records. Without hesitation, she asked, â??from Dr. Williams?â?? That level of attention to individual patients is remarkable. Lorena is also amazing. If I didnâ??t drive her crazy with my frequent calls, related to the insurance approval, scheduling, medications, etc., you have a keeper. Berto in x-ray is always pleasant and sports a contagious smile. One generally doesnâ??t look forward to a doctor appointment, much less an upcoming surgical procedure. I want you to know what a comfort it is to know that there are surgeons of your caliber, professionalism and character. It has been a pleasure being a patient of yours and you can rest assured that the residents of Deming will continue to hear the positive story of Dr. Urrea and his staff. God bless you, Robert

Dr. Robert Urrea, Mr. Jose Calderon PA and the entire staff at The Back and Neck Institute was excellent and professional. Everyone treated and responded to me with the utmost respect and quickly to my medical needs. Dr Urrea operated on my back and I have recommended him to family and friends. Prior to the surgery, he spent time to explain to me and my family the reason why I was having back issues, he ran every test needed (which made me feel that he was looking at everything before the surgery). He explained in detail why and what he would do during the surgery, what to expect afterwards and what I would need to achieve the best recovery. Mr. Calderon like Dr. Urrea, made me feel like I was the only patient and he explained and spent the time I needed, answering every question and demonstrating the care that a patient needs for this type of procedure. I also would like to add the Dr. Urrea operated on my husband for a neck injury and since the surgery has been pain free… and is doing very well.
