a.m. + d.g. Dr. Robert Wharen is an incredible and exceptional neurosurgeon who has taken care of my wife for about 10 years who is second to none in neurosurgeon! He and his great staff make us feel like we are part of the Mayo Clinic family which in itself is another wonderful experience! There is always a cross coordination with other specialists within the Mayo Clinic, if necessary ... you can't find a better environment and staff to put you in complete ease and ready for whatever the diagnosis may indicate. Dr. Wharen is very conservative in his approach and only recommends surgery only if most important. My wife has survived 15 neurosurgeries/procedures with the removal of at least 30 brain tumors and has placed complete trust in Dr. Wharen, his staff and the Mayo Clinic at Jacksonville, Florida. Sheila has been treated by past presidents of the Neurosurgeons of America and even travelled to Jerusalem and the Hadassah Hospital to see one of the very best in the world of… neurosurgery... even with that, Dr. Wharen tops the list! Had surgery for large acoustic neuroma. Everything went well. Caring, man of few words, awesome staff. Nursing was great in the hospital. Happy and thankful I was referred to him. Best outcome. Thanks for being awesome.

Run for your life this so called Doctor is incompetent and not trustworthy.

Dr Wharen is the ultimate neurosurgeon. A total rock-star! He is brilliant and kind and his staff is equally remarkable. I had a very successful experience and surgery with him at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and will forever be grateful to him and his band of experienced angels (nurses). â??ï¸?

This is the worst doctor I have every came in contact with. Stay away from him, run for your life if he shows up near you

I knew I was in the hands of a great surgeon. He talked to me before my surgery and reassured me it was all going to be ok. I felt calm about the surgery and confident in Dr. Wharen.

Dr. Robert Wharen is an outstanding neurosurgeon. He is very personable, and is very detail oriented. He takes time answering any questions that we had. Dr. Wharen is extremely personable, and he has an excellent bedside manner. We would highly recommend Dr. Wharen if anyone is in need of an outstanding neurosurgeon. If your case involves an automobile accident or anything else with litigation, you'll have problems with this Clinic. Mayo doesn't like to get involved in accident cases.But if you want Top Notch surgical results and care leading up to it that is second to none... this is the place to go. I was TERRIFIED going into the spinal surgery process. Dr. Wharen's bedside manner is cordial but minimal. But that's not what counts when he's operating. His skills are known to be vastly superior to others. I couldn't stand up straight for almost a year, but could within hours of the ACDF operation.Mayo also utilizes a laser technique that they pioneered and other hospitals don't use or have the ability to use. Revisions are common in other hospitals. Mayo's success rate for not needing a revision is 99%.If you can do it... go to the Mayo Clinic. If you can get into the Mayo Clinic... you'll be fortunate to have Dr. Wharen as your surgeon.
