Dr. Robert Ray Whitten Jr, MD

Walked in with a chip on his shoulder. Spoke in a demeaning manner, not at all empathetic. Pointed at me as if to accuse me of being a bad patient. I just wanted some explanation of the procedure that would be done rather than just agreeing to it over the phone without knowing anything. It was a great bother to him to accommodate me. Extremely disappointed.

Dr Written prescribed a medication to my father, and apparently did not worry about the side effects that it would have. The medication says on the label that you could have thoughts of suicide. My father ended his life with a self inflicted gun shot wound to his head.

I highly recommend Dr. Whitten. I am very sad to hear that he is leaving Group Health.

This doctor would not listen to a word I said. Instead, he told me that my pain was all in my head and that he believed I was "acting out". I'm a grown woman and have never in my life been accused of anything like that. I was so frustrated by the fact that he just wouldn't listen to me, that I started to cry - which unfortunately, just gave him more ammunition. He immediately dismissed me as some kind of hysterical woman. He was totally unprofessional. And, my tearful response to him, I'm ashamed to say, just played right into his hands. I have never cried at the doctor's office before. I was just caught completely off guard by his insensitive remarks and I guess I just lost it. After getting another opinion from a different doctor, I was actually diagnosed with an orthopedic condition, had surgery, and after physical therapy, I am finally pain free. I would not trust this doctor again. He was completely unsympathetic and would not listen to my complaint or consider that… there might be something wrong with me that was not immediately evident to him.
