Dr. Robert Wilson

Negative stars if I could. As a physician, I was expecting an assessment and individualized plan. As a patient I got nothing. I caught COVID while I was there. Which ironically is what started my issues in the first place. I had some testing done. And since then have received generic non individualized recommendations from an EMR template. Didn’t think it could get any worse. Then Dr Wilson and his team found a way to make it worse. If you just need some social support for this condition, I’m sure it’s great. If you actually need help and don’t want to hit the floor every few days, look elsewhere.

The Dr was Compassionate at my first appointment. Got my hopes up, talked about medical trauma and like he really understood. Don’t ask his nurse Jennifer any questions about what he said in the office or questions about your health. She talks down to you and is condescending and rude. She was actually laughing at me when she called to tell me how the department works and to make sure I understood. She said there is a no confrontational policy which means don’t ask questions, don’t question how they do things. I thought you were supposed to ask questions about your health to a doctor. Then when you try to talk to this dr about how you were treated, he says you’re in the wrong and that she’s a caring person.That my behavior won’t be tolerated.They all stick together even when they treat patients badly. Very bad for patients that have been through a lot. He doesn’t have the right to talk about medical trauma because they create more trauma for a patient. His staff and him are the worst… I’ve had contact with. He gives false hope. Don’t ever question him or his nurse. On a positive note I am glad I found out now rather than later.

I was sent to him from Pittsburgh. He seemed like a great doctor at first said he would get to the bottom of my issues and to be patient with him. Before I knew it he wanted and required me to attend zoom video sessions with a bunch of other people for a condition that I didn't even test positive for. There is no individual approach and his patients are all grouped together in a one size fits all approach, this is not how medicine works. I got in trouble for asking personal questions and was told it caused other patients distress. What about my distress? All I am asking for is the time and respect to explain to me what is going on with me and really try to figure out what is wrong with me.

Dr. Wilson seems like a kind man, but I am afraid he didn't listen well to me because he was so busy. I was with him for about 20 minutes after driving 3 hours and staying overnight, and he spent a third of that time in the hall responding to his pager. In the rest of the time I got a very cursory exam, and was quizzed about depression even though I am not depressed, just frustrated at being sidelined with this illness for so long. He ignored my questions about why I can't feel anything in my fingers and why I have trouble walking unsupported as a 22 year old. He made me feel like the reason I am in bed is that I'm depressed and that that is causing problems for me. Hint: being really sick for a long time makes people unhappy- I'm not sick because I'm confined to bed, I'm confined to bed because I'm sick. Didn't seem to hear me, though, had his own idea from the beginning. Welp, if I was depressed, that would have made it worse, but since I'm not, on I go to a new doctor till I… find out what's wrong and get back in the game. Turns out that just because you're at the Cleveland Clinic doesn't make you infallible, or even thorough. One suggestion: shut off the pager and listen to the patient.

I have been searching for 9 years for a correct diagnosis for my condition. Mayo Clinic couldn't find it but after multiple testing and an attitude that refuses to give up, Dr. Wilson has found my problem and has put me on a path to a better life. He is caring, compassionate and never gives up. I drove 20 hours to see him and would do it again and again for his care.

I was a patient at his practice in Florida, when he moved I was handed off to another Doctor within the same practice. All that did was remind me of what I already knew. I will not be able to match his compassion , smarts and demeanor any time soon.

There are not enough words to describe my gratitude for Dr. Wilson. To have a Dr. that will sit and talk with you and not rush you out of the office is something that doesn't happen anymore. Dr. Wilson genuinely cares. When all other Dr.'s were dismissing me Dr. Wilson told me during my first visit "I believe you. I will not give up on you." And he held true to his word. He did not give up on me. It was a long process for me to get a diagnosis due to the fact that he is very thorough. I appreciated that! He was able to diagnose me and is now treating me. I finally have some quality of life back. When you or a loved one is facing an illness it can be a scary time. Dr. Wilson's compassion and thoughtfulness helps make it all easier. The world needs more Dr.'s like him. A Dr. who cares and who listens... He's one in a million! I travel 3.5 hours each way to see him. I would travel twice that to keep him as my Dr.

I feel for Dr. Wilson's former patients, it would be hard to lose a doctor as thorough and compassionate as he is. His goal is to get to the bottom of your systems, he doesn't give up on you. He did more for getting my POTS dx'd than other specialist I have seen, even managing to get my insurance provider to pay for the test that would seal the dx (other doctors had no luck or didn't try). It took nine months to get my dx, but without Dr. Wilson, I'd probably still be second-guessing my symptoms. He is the only doctor I've had that will call me back directly (and fast too!) I do hope he is happy in his new location in Cleveland and stays for a long time to come.

Dr. Wilson was SO THOROUGH!! After all of my tests I knew exactly what was wrong and what to do about it!! He left no stone unturned in making sure I had not suffered permanent problems from my condition! I know how much healthier I am than I would have been without his care. It will be hard to find a replacement, but hopefully thanks to him I won't have to! He looks at the long-term quality of your life when treating you!
