Dr. Robert Burl Wilson, MD

I am not a young person, and so I have had a few primary care doctors. There is no comparison in regards to Dr. Wilson. I love that I am included in deciding what health care interventions I need, and his professionalism is beyond reproach. The clinic is efficient, quiet, an waiting times are minimal. Often I barely sit down before my name is called. I changed insurances a few months ago, and it is less than functional. The front desk searched for my number because I didn't have updated information to give them. I said several times that it is ok and I would pay cash. They wouldn't stop trying and wouldn't settle for cash. The whole time I with Dr. Wilson, they worked on finding my policy, and when I left, they had that info in hand.

I am a nurse and I know a good doctor from a bad one. Dr. Wilson III is a great doctor. He is personable, gently honest and fair. He asks questions and he has follow up a few days after a visit. This is probably why its hard to get him as you PCP. You can't go wrong. (front staff can be cranky)

I have a rare connective tissue disorder, and also a rare cardiac condition. I have to seek treatment for such things at The Mayo Clinic, and a cardiologist in Texas. I see him for everything else. These conditions can causes me many secondary things otherwise too. When I first came ill with the cardiac condition no one knew what was wrong. And many doctors blew me off. One doctor (even in the same clinic as Dr. Wilson) said I only had anxiety. Dr. WilsonIII stuck by my side. He knew I was very ill, and did all he could to help. He encouraged I go to the Mayo Clinic. He even did everything necessary to speed up the referral process. Explaining how ill I was, and they (himself, and other local doctors) couldn't find a diagnosis. He got me a appt with Mayo in 4 weeks! He has always done all he can to help me. And listens to my concerns. He researches things about my rare conditions. And have even been open to read the information my other physicians have sent him. Love him! The only… down fall is there is a rude nurse as another revier noted. And she does NOT return calls. You can leave 2-4 messages and she will not call back. She doesn't do what she says she will. And she is prone to do things like say she talked to the doctor about something when she in fact didn't. I ask at next appt. and Dr Willson will be clueless. The front desk ladies are very polite. It is just sometimes hard to get through to make an appt. They make you leave a msg, and don't call back right away. Sometimes until the next day. That is horrible when you are ill. He is a good dr with some bad employees. That is all. But he is such I good that is why I don't change. He is the ONE doctor I have that runs one time with his appts.

Dr. Wilson Jr. is a very caring Doctor. But he has a Nurse straight out of a place no one wants to be from. She will screw up everything she touches so just beware of her. She must be from the Northeast somewhere because of her attitude and accent. This is so unfair but this nurse is their because Dr. Wilson hired her so I guess he has that cross to bare.

I've really enjoyed having Dr. Wilson as my PCP for the last several years. He's always taken the time to treat me as a person, not just another patient to herd thru the process. He actually listens to my side of things even if he disagrees with me. He's always been prompt, courteous and professional and on the rare occasion I've had to wait, he's made a point of apologizing for the wait.

I went to him for several years. At first it was find. The last 3 visits were terrible. I couldn't believe the change in him. He yelled at me from the hallway (in front of staff and other patients) and then slammed the door. The next person I saw was the nurse. I will never return to his office again. I have found another doctor and am very satisfied with the treatment I now receive. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, and my family has left his practice as well.

I went to him to get established with a primary. I was told he wasn't taking on any new pain management cases, but he is who could get me in. After reviewing my files he began prescribing my pain meds for a chronic back condition. Everything has been fine for almost 2 years. Now, I'm having back problems again and my meds aren't as effective as they were. Same meds 6 yrs, same dosage for 1 1/2 years. He told me that he would continue my meds as they are, but he wasn't comfortable doing any more than he is. People's body's become tolerant to medicines and all he says is go to neurosurgeon or pain mgmt. So now I get to start ALL OVER. They will put me in physical therapy that won't help, try to make me do cortisone injections I won't (last one put me in a wheelchair), then start on a crazy regimen of drugs that I most likely have already been on to no avail. I have a degenerative disk problem, fused spine, & arthritis in joints - NOT something that will respond to what he's… sending me to. Talk about a hopeless feeling.
