Dr. Robert Allan Zikaras, MD

There is nothing more personal than a gynecological exam or childbirth. Choosing the right doctor is extremely important. Dr. Zikaras was my provider during three pregnancies (1 very high risk), deliveries, and a couple health scares. He and his staff were there to talk, counsel and guide me through all of these experiences. I couldn't have asked for a better health care provider. I have been going to Dr. Zikaras for 30 years and couldn't think of going anywhere else. The care of Dr. Zikaras and his staff are top-notch!

This place is very clean they take care of you very quick no need to wait 10/ 20 minutes. Been with them since 2012.

This doctor did a pap smear and called that my yearly visit. He did no pelvic exam, ordered no blood work, did no manual exam to check for breast lumps. When I questioned later why no pelvic exam was done, I was told that one was done. I am an older woman who has been to many doctors and I know what a pelvic exam is. One was not done. He didn't do one the year before that either. Several months after my exam I felt like I may have had some type of an infection. I went to Dr Zikaris and he said he did not need to examine me because he already checked me when he did my yearly physical. (That was months before.) He then made me look at his finger until I got Cross-eyed for some strange reason. He then sent me on my way with a prescription for an antibiotic for a bladder infection, which the culture showed I did not even have. I never did find out what was wrong with me. Won't be returning to this clown again.

very easy mannered DR and informative

Rushed me and made no diagnosis at all of a painful problem. Spoke to me for about 5 minutes before I was shown the door, confused and in worse pain from the useless exam. Kinda knew there must be a reason the appointment was so easy to get.

My son was born at Bridgeport Hospital 15 years ago. Due to the incompetence of the head nurse on duty, who insisted that my (now ex) wife wasn't in real labor when it turned out, when another nurse checked, that she was actually fully dilated, Dr. Zikaras was somewhat delayed in his arrival. Fortunately, he had supplied us with his direct line in case of just such an emergency. I was able to reach him and he rushed to the hospital. By the time he got there, the room was in a panic. An intern who had initially been rushed in had been replaced by the on-duty doctor, who had placed a pulse-monitoring wire on my son's scalp and expressed concern that he might have the umbilical cord around his neck. This had actually happened when my daughter was born, and we nearly lost her, so I felt like I was reliving a nightmare. I can only describe the change that occurred when Dr. Zikaras arrived as miraculous. He calmly sat down, reached inside, said he didn't think there was a cord problem, and… literally within minutes, my son was out and feeding at his mother's breast. It was one of the most masterful things I have ever seen in my life, and I will always be grateful to Dr. Zikaras for his extraordinary skill in that moment. I was subsequently told by a friend who was also a patient of Dr. Zikaras's that, at the time, he had the lowest mortality rate of any OB GYN in the state. I don't know where you can access those kinds of statistics, but I'd be curious to see if that is still the case.

overall i get the best help when there i never really wait there long never anything more then 2 to 3 minutes tops.The appointments are great they work with me with me to get the best time to come in and they always makes sure everything is done right the first time.I would recommend them to other people.
