I saw this doctor a few years ago as a new patient. I had been in some pain and discomfort and told her what I thought it could be. She basically opposed everything I was saying & was VERY rude to me. I literally had to beg for certain tests and she was very unprofessional in her tone, demeanor, and with making certain remarks. I couldn't believe that a female OBGYN could be so cold. I left the office very upset and it turned out that I was correct!!!!! (Seriously though, who knows your own body best....why can't some doctors actually admit this?) The worst part was, she didn't even have someone call to let me know my results, I had to track them down. Needless to say, I found a new doc! The reason I am writing this review now is because I just went through my records and it brought back the horrible experience I had with her.

She needs to stick to medical questions. I don't appreciate going to my 1st prenatal appointment and being asked " are you married?" " Did you mean to get pregnant again this soon?" Who is she to judge. If your trying for a VBAC like I am, I'm telling you now she won't support it all she say is how risky it is. But yet women are doing it all the time. I won't ever be seeing her again. If I were you I'd look for another provider before making an appointment with her.

I have seen this doctor during my pregnancy and did not like the care when I went to appointments prior to delivering my daughter. She wasn't very nice, and overall I felt uncomfortable during each appointment. I did not want her deliver my daughter. The day I went into delivery she was the doctor available to deliver my child and i'm glad she was. She may not be the nicest person, but she knows what she is doing. I had to have a cesarean and my surgery was successful, you can barely see my scar. She checked on me through out my recovery and made sure staff attended to me every need. Her personality bites but she made me feel safe during my surgery.

I have been a patient of Dr. Karpfen for quite a few years now, and she has always taken very good care of me. Although some may say that she seems to be abrasive or uncaring, that could not be further from the truth. She does, in fact, care very much for her patients, as was evidenced by myself when she performed a very much needed procedure that I recovered from almost seamlessly, due to her exceptional expertise with the procedure being performed. I am very grateful to her for her kindness to me during that time, and since, when I had another issue that required attention, and she was right there with a phone call to help me in any way she could. I can only say that I love Dr. karpfen and would not consider going to anyone else for anything that may arise for me healthwise in the future. I only hope that she never retires from practice.......well, maybe not for a very long time, at least.

I have been a patient of Dr. Karphen's for a few years and have come to know her well. She has my respect and I hope to continue my relationship with her for many years to come.

i seen her plenty of times due to an ongoing issue. first of all, she perform tests incorrectly. i know i had an issue and she just performed tests on two different occasions saying i did not have an infection. well i went to another doctor for a 2nd opinion and this doctor diagnosed me correctly. dr karpfen doesnt have a good approach in treatment as i am still suffering from the same infection. i tell her my concerns about another issue i was experiencing and tells me everything is normal and doesnt even run tests!! that is a horrible practice. she can easily misdiagnose you or overlook your problems. waste of time and shame on her. i will not go back to her or recommend her.

Dr. Karpfen is a very intelligent, caring, dedicated physician. I highly recommend her to anybody in search of an excellent ob/gyn.

I went to Dr. Karpfen for 3-4 years, and each year my experience seemed to get progressively worse. She can come off as abrasive and uninterested in you, as if you were just 1 out of 100 patients she needed to see. I felt uncomfortable talking to her about some issues because I just felt like she didn't have the time. I spoke more to the nurse about what was going on than I did her, and I felt more comfortable doing so with the nurse. I also felt like I was being interrogated and lectured at, rather than having a healthy joint discussion with her.

Dr. Karpfen is extremely thorough and conscientious. After 20+ years of agony, she was able to diagnose and treat my problem with wonderful results. My teenage daughter now goes to her and likes her very much! Couldn't ask for a better doctor.
