Dr. Robin Chanel Ryther, MD

My son is adopted and she was so focused on why he was adopted than the issue at hand. She kept using the wrong terminology, calling his birth mom, his mom. She kept saying things like “when does he get to see his mom”. She made me feel like I was less than his parent because I didn’t birth him. I will never go back. She’s super unprofessional, and made it a point to call his birther his mom and not me. I have never felt so disrespected by a Doctor in my life. I would never recommend her. She’s also not good with kids. She kept saying things like I know I’m the bad doctor, I’m the mean doctor.

We have been seeing Dr Ryther for several years. She knows her stuff! She unfortunately deals with children who are medically complex and sometimes that means not great news. We have had those times with her it is frustrating, but not her fault. I have too felt frustrated during those times and yes at her but when I really looked back it was me- just upset because my son was not doing well BUT she stuck us , listened to us. She will not tell you what you want to hear to make you feel better. She will tell you what you need to hear so that as a team- we can do the best we can for our son.

Dr. Ryther has a passion for children affected by Rett syndrome. She founded the Rett Spectrum Clinic at St. Louis Children's Hospital, a multidisciplinary clinic, addressing all the various needs of the child. Dr. Ryther provides education to hospital staff, families, and advocates for inclusion at school and in the community.

She has no business being in a specialty with children, has zero understanding on how to handle parents that entire lives have been flipped upside down. She doesn’t really listen to the parents who are with their children 24/7, and forms her own opinions instead. Shows very little emotions, other then trying to be tough, and stern when that’s the last thing parents need. If you want a caring, positive, understanding, and someone who listens to you she is the wrong doctor for you. She is all about being stern, forming her own opinions, and not giving you any sign of hope, or positivity.
