Dr. Robin Liberty Travers, MD

I am writing this review to save others from making the mistake of seeing Dr Travers. I traveled over 4 hour round trip to see her because I heard she was good, and I was looking for a great doctor after suffering for months. Well, I have never been treated so horrible in my life. Dr Travers would not listen to me at all, and kept talking over me. I could tell from the beginning she was rushing me out, which was frustrating after traveling so far to be there. I was trying to explain to her about the surgical excisions I received from plastic surgeons leading up to this visit and she cut me off with "You did not have a surgical excision, that didn't happen. No one would ever do that." I explained that I did have it, twice over three years, and that I had to go see plastic surgeons for it. She again told me that never happened. (I provided biopsy reports from both plastic surgeon offices, it would have been easy for her to verify I was telling the truth if she cared...). She acted like… I was an idiot for thinking I had these procedures that I actually DID have. Also, she was reacting to my scar from the procedure (which I had 6 weeks before this visit) and not to the words I was saying about my discomfort and the actual problem at play. But because she didn't believe I had a surgical excision she also didn't believe she was looking at the scar from said excision. She prescribed me a topical medication that I later learned is well known to exacerbate my problem (which was my experience after using it for a week). She also advised me to use it for two weeks, and come back to see her in three weeks (which would be mid-May). I was in tears by this point when I went to check out, but I went through the motions of scheduling a follow up -- only to be told Dr Travers is booked through August (I saw her in April...) and I could instead see an assistant in June. Now, the reason I traveled so far to see Dr Travers is because my local dermatology office wouldn't let me see the doctor there, and only scheduled me with the assistants, and after months of suffering (including a failed surgical excision...) I wanted to be treated by a doctor. And now I couldn't even do that. I don't understand why her office let me schedule this appointment if no follows ups were available. But I would not go back to see her anyway after the way I was treated and rushed out of there and not listened to. Why would I like about prior medical procedures while providing proof of those procedures? All this to say -- don't go see her. You can find a caring doctor who takes their time and listens to you. I ended up finding just that a week later (at my original doctor's office, they finally let me see the doctor there) and getting the care and relief I needed.

My son checked in for his visit on time. The receptionist FORGOT to mark him in. Dr Travers refused to see him because she has a policy of not seeing people who are more than 10 minutes late. We were NOT late. The staff messy up and she didn’t care

I’m an ivy league alumna and PhD Candidate and have seen doctors around the country and the world given that I suffer from chronic illness. So I am a very experienced patient and thorough professional, and seen doctors across specialities. I have never written a negative review for a doctor before, and I am in shock regarding my experience with this provider to whom I was a new patient. I found her conduct to be extremely unprofessional and discriminatory for reasons I cannot explain. There was no courtesy as a patient and she also misdiagnosed my skin condition in the first appointment, was in hindsight dismissive and barely spent 10-15 minutes with me in the appointment. The reason I am writing this review is when I reached out for a follow up consult as my problem was still not resolved the scheduling nightmare I endured and the discrimination and abandonment as a patient was a first. Dishonest provider, no regard for patient welfare + terrible staff and IT in terms of scheduling. I… lost an entire day when i was dealing with an acute skin condition and am a highly vulnerable patient, I was given an appointment for a televisit and after trying to follow instructions I was sent via email and several failed attempts to log in since the app did not work and the scheduling staff not able to help me Log in. I was asked to call back and reschedule same day. Again it took about 30 minutes trying to set up with what was a no show provider and several errors in communication from the staff who kept me waiting. Only to be told that I was for no justified reason being dismissed from the Drs practice and would not be allowed a follow up consultation. She had already consulted with me on the first visit in clinic and I had been driven from out of state to see her and invested time and money to make that happen. I had scheduled my follow up appointment with her earlier in the week and it was a time sensitive need given how ill the condition was making me. I missed an opportunity to find another provider and as a disabled individual it’s very hard from me to get from out of state to a practice in Boston and several providers are booked up weeks in advance. Hence I was in shock that a doctor would not even have a care of duty and abandon a patient without any professional courtesy or until they were able to find a new provider. When I complained to the nursing staff, I was told and felt discriminated against as a patient without explanation and my time and health loss of no concern to them it seems- I was told I should never have been scheduled and not welcome at the practice because i did not make my appointment on time. I’m not sure in covid times if their faulty app or technical difficulties despite good faith attempts establishes what they claim. I have never experienced anything like this from a provider, and as a woman of color I feel a complete lack of ethics and my experience was so awful that I felt compelled to call her behavior out and also warn others who may think of seeing this provider. If her diagnosis was off or the technology wasn’t allowing me access even as I was logged in at this time to discriminate and find fault against me waste my time in an acute stage of my condition and make me lose opportunity to consult with another provider in the time I needed to is not acceptable as a consumer and patient.

Been seeing Dr. Travers for a couple years now. Strong reputation and certainly competent, but Always rushed. She declared, ”I am only medical” towards the end of our Last 3-5 min consultation. I suspect she thought my questions about my acne were vain?? Maybe it had resolved to the medical standard? That would surprise me as I still have quite visible pimples and blackheads. I hear that some of the other doctors will offer more of their time. Going to try to switch to another provider to see if I have better results and better “care.”

Dr. Travers was delightful as well as professional during the 7 appointments I have had with her. Dr. Travers is exceptionally smart, caring, took the time to really explain my diagnosis as well as being a fabulous listener. In my opinion anyone would be lucky to have her as a doctor. I have recently scheduled a first appointment for my 81-year-old mother. Thank you Dr. Robin Travis, I think you're the greatestâ??ï¸? 5/5 stars
