I went to the ER in May 2020 because of acute Bells Palsy and because of previousepisodes of Lyme Disease, I knew exactly what it was and asked for immediate treatment with IV Rocephin based on a clinical diagnosis. She alleged that she performed a Lyme Western Blot test, although there is no record of that in my chart, that was negative (Lyme antibodies do not show up right away anyway) but she insisted that Bells Palsy was a symptom of Covid, despite being in an endemic area for Lyme. My neutrophils level was high, definitely indicating infection, but She refused to give me antibiotics and insisted this was a viral issue. I had been in isolation with no exposure to Covid but She refused to consult with an infectious disease specialist. By the time I was able to get properly diagnosed by conclusive positive Western Blot, the critical time for IV antibiotics had passed and despite a regular course of oral antibiotics, the Palsy has not resolved in more than 3 years. The neurological… effects have caused me to lose my job. Please insist on a real medical doctor from an accredited medical school.
