Dr. Roderick J Anscombe, MD

Not good. Will diagnose you (in less than 30 minutes) based on a short survey of questions, and then prescribe like crazy. I was misdiagnosed, and then given a lot of drugs. Luckily, I did not fill most of the prescriptions and got away from him. Very dangerous situation for me. I have since wondered about his ethics and the economics behind his decisions. Are the drug reps and this doctor "in bed" together. Probably. Get away from him. If I could turn back time, I would not give this "practice" the time of day.

Both husband and wife are disrespectful and inconsiderate with others time. Neither bothers to return a simple phone call. No wonder patients travel out of the city to see other psychiatrists... these two are contemptuous if potential patients.

I feel that he is not invested in the wellbeing of his patients or very friendly. He actually tried to drop me as a patient if I missed an appointment. I went to him for a number of years and was extremely sick with PTSD he did not pick up on any of my symptoms when my mental health was declining. He was not helpful in my opinion or many others who have gone to him.

Dr. Anscombe is an egomaniac with a terrible bedside manner. He treats his clients with disdain, making it clear that his time is WAY more valuable than is theirs. His Office Manager is similarly rude. He takes full advantage of supply/demand curve in his area and the lack of prescribing physicians. Because many Gloucester residents are loath to "cross the bridge" he has a relatively captive audience.

I feel confident that Dr. Anscombe really wants to help me with my PTSD. I think he is extremely perceptive and intelligent. He has a very professional manner, which some people might misinterpret as aloofness. But he is very caring and never condescending. He always returns my calls when I have had special concerns between appointments.

Excellent psychiatrist, very intuitive and understanding. I would highly recommend him.

Poor communicator which is odd for a pychiatrist and not helpful for a patient. Save your time and money. He is more invested in himself than in his patients.
