Dr. Roderick Donald Moe JR., MD

Stay away form this doctor at all costs, he is usually the ENT on duty and will "suggest" Tracheotomies to families in the E.R who are in there during the cold seasons. I think when a child has medicaid he will do whatever he wants. He put our child and family and other families through hell. He threatened a tracheotemy on my child and if we didn't choose what surgery we wanted then he will choose for us. My child was only in the E.R overnight for an evaluation and then took him in to operating room for an "evaluation" promised me he wouldn't do any procedures on him. But he did, and that one procedure made things worse and then made my child to not breathe well in his airway and then he trached my child promising they will grow out of it. That did not happen, my child was trached for 6 years. During that time, he threatened me if i rescheduled appointments or canceled appointments saying he will call CPS. My child ended up with so many infections because of the trache, it caused him… severe asthma, ear infections and etc. Every year he wanted to do procedures on him, by the grace of God my child got sick with something else that prevented this doctor from doing more procedures on him for a while. During that time my child started to get better, stronger and healthier. This doctor even scheduled to try to put tubes in my child's ears to supposedly alleviated ear infections. By the grace of God we found another ENT in the military base because I married into the military. The new ENT said there was nothing wrong with my child and didn't need the trache, he was decannulated, all infections went away, the asthma stopped. The infections were due to the body fighting the trache a foreign object. There was nothing wrong with my child!!! This doctor lied, and when i tried to get medical records his office said they couldn't and demanded to know what new doctor i would take my child too. My child was speech delayed and delayed in many other things due to this doctor's malpractice. It many years for my child to try and live a close to normal life. Even before he was decannulated I took my child to other doctors out of town that were supposed to be the best, but I didn't trust them. I know other families that were trached the same day as my child, and those children were completely healthy. My child ended up on disability with alot of therapies because of this mess. Apparently doctors in san antonio know about this doctor but will not speak against him. This doctor also messed up another child of a family that I know, and he also threatened that parent with CPS if this parent didn't keep appointments as told. This doctor is trash, he will rack up medicaid bills, tell you he is the best in town when he is not. This doctor is complete bondage to families, all the reviews you see about him in regards to him being rude and etc. It is all true, believe it and run.

After 4 doctors kept misdiagnosing my son's infection and prescribed the wrong meds, Dr. Moe was the only one to make the right diagnosis and probably saved his life. So grateful for Dr. Moe.

My son was referred for enlarged tonsils, he was having difficulty breathing and recurring strep infections. I live 2.5 hrs away but made the drive because I preferred a pedi ent and I am glad I did. His staff was so nice and I was seen in a jiffy. Doctor was so detailed and answered all of our questions. Not to mention he is super good with kids. Loved my experience and ever since my sons T&A he is so much better. Dr. Moe was amazing! Recommend!

The office itself is great and the 1.5 hour wait time didn’t bother me, here’s what did... I’ve never seen a doctor dismiss my concerns with my child and interrupt me while talking. The 5 minutes he spent with us in the room was him explaining that it was probably a virus. Even after I explained it had been going on for months and none of my other children have been sick. He honestly just didn’t care and wanted to get us out. I went to a new doctor (who cared), she preformed surgery and my son is SO much better!

We were happy with Dr.Moes service but his prices in 2016 literally quadrupled in price. Office visit went from $88 to $343 for a 10 minute follow up. We weren't warned, same in network provider, same insurance. Office takes no responsibility and doing nothing to help. They said there are not many options for pediatric ENTs in San Antonio so we can charge whatever we want. Hope this helps future patients, there are other ENTs that don't charge outrageous prices for the same service.

My first encounter with Dr. Moe was when I had to take my son (8mos old at the time) to the emergency room. It was my 2nd visit to the ER after being sent home because they didn't know what was wrong with him. As a mom, I knew there was something wrong. Dr. Moe was on call that next night and was able to diagnose him right away. He performed surgery on him and my son made a full recovery. We had a few follow up visits with Dr. Moe and when he realized he didn't accept my insurance, he personally walked me over to his billing employee and told her not to charge me for the follow up. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable with the whole situation. A few years later we visited him again for another issue and still received great care. I was about to make an appt for my son to see his family dr tomorrow when it dawned on me that I should take him to Dr. Moe instead. I was looking up his contact information when I saw the reviews and wanted to list my positive experience as well. I… think he is a great doctor and I would and have recommended Dr. Moe to anyone. My son is now 9 years old and I will never forget the great care we received from Dr. Moe.

I'm not sure what happened with the other reviews, but let me tell you from experience that Dr. Moe is the BEST. My daughter had her tonsils, adenoids, and tubes surgery two months ago and he did such a great job. We did have a complication of a clot breaking afterwards but that was not his fault. He did however take complete care of her at the ER and the follow up care was fantastic. Several of my coworkers have used him for their children (which is how I discovered him) and they love him as well. I think people generally only leave reviews when they are upset. Who cares if you have to wait a minute in the waiting room or get charged for records? The doctor who will be OPERATING on your CHILD is all that matters and let me tell you, Dr. Moe is the only one we trust. Even my daughter asks if we can go see him instead of her pediatrician. My reply is always "I wish honey."

I had forgotten about our awful experience with this doctor until today when I had a collect letter from his practice. In 2006 we had a car accident, and my son (then 11 years old) fractured his nose. The hospital had him as the ENT in duty, at the hospital and during the first visit at his office he was very nice and even said my son needed surgery until he became aware that he would have to wait for the car insurance to settle with the girl that crashed into us, once he was aware he changed to being unfriendly and rude. When I asked him if he could help us and that I would even work a payment plan while everything settled, he answered that he thought my son looked better now. I asked him if my son were his son if he would do the surgery and he just said, but he isn't my son. We got a second opinion and it was to late, the new ENT said that my son needed the surgery and it had to be done during the first few days, after 2 weeks it couldn't be done anymore. He only cares about money,… and the $500 we payed him for waisting our time is all he would see from us. All he had to do was to be honest and tell us since the beginning he didn't accept patients that had to wait for car insurance settlements, and that we had to look for another doctor. We rather have our credit ruined than paying the $347 he says we owe him for doing nothing. Think twice before putting your child's health in his hands.
