Dr. Rodney Lynn Clingan, FACS

Dr. Clingan has performed several colonoscopies on me over the years and all have gone very well. Dr. Clingan and his staff have been very friendly and professional.

Doctor Clingan moves very fast in regards to surgery and at the beginning of my treatment plan, I’d maybe even say that he was a great surgeon who truly cared about my care and well being but after today’s appointment I’m not sure that I can say the same thing. Due to a procedure to get an emergency colostomy by Doctor Clingan I lost a job that I’d not been at very long. This caused me to lose insurance and have a one month gap in the time when new insurance would kick in. As a result, I missed an infusion but I was also in the process of switching infusion types. My GI doctor decided not to help me for this month due to not having insurance and gave me the run around regarding starting a new biologic so my biggest issue is with him BUT... when I went in to see Doctor Clingan today he told me that he’s not going to help me either and that he’s not going to give me pain medicine “because I’m not doing what I need to be doing in terms of finding new medication”. This was extremely… disturbing because it’s not my decision how fast the GI chooses to move when assisting me. Nor is it up to me which medication I will start and when! When I called the nurse to ask what was going on with the assistance program for the new medication she told me that it’s her fault she never sent it in. Anyway...not once in my appointment did I ask doctor Clingan for pain medicine. I came in to discuss a stricture, two new abscesses, and a surgery that he’d done a few weeks before but because he had in his mind that I wanted pain medicine or that I “wasn’t doing what needed to be done” opposed to asking what steps I’ve taken he refused to examine me to see if things have progressed. He said that there’s nothing else that he can do for me without being on medication. Needless to say, I will be finding a new Colorectal Surgeon and a new GI Doctor because I’m not sure how on earth this could possibly be my fault. Crohns happened to me and I’ve had to teach myself how to cope as a result, this isn’t something that I’ve studied and had prior knowledge about. His bedside manner after so long is just absolutely ridiculous and now I’m stuck with a temporary Ostomy and forced to find a new surgeon.

Dr. Clingan is one of the most outstanding physicians I've met in many years. At every turn during tests and scans, he was extremely attentive and careful in diagnosing my condition, and in treating it promptly. While its obvious that he is an exceptional colorectal surgeon, he is also one of the most personable and caring surgeons I've ever met. Physicians like Dr. Clingan are a rare find today, and I cannot say enough about him! He and his entire staff are fantastic!

I have been a patient of Dr. Clingan for several years and have always been treated with respect and have been given the best of care by him and his staff.

I personally thought he and his staff were very rude and I would never use him for anything.... I would have rather die first before I would see him again....

Dr. Clingan has been my doctor for 6 six years now, and he has always been caring and respectful. I have never had a bad experience with him. His staff has always been great as well. Thank you Dr. Clingan!
