Dr. Rodney James Haenschen

My mother-in-law went into the Scottsbluff ER in the middle of the night complaining of severe pain in the abdomen. After a urine test this quack proceeds to give her some pills for bladder spasms, no pain killers, no anti-biotics. He told her there was nothing wrong with her that they could find and discharged her while she was still in severe pain. She then goes down to the emergency care office to get a second opinion nearly 24 hours later and they say she has a severe blood infection. The doctor there could access Scottsbluff hospital records and the test showed positive for infection!!! Needless to say the doctor and nurse were shocked that such an idiot mistake happened. Haenschen is unprofessional, inept, and a complete moron. If this is his usual level of care i wouldn't be surprised if he's maimed many a patient who have had the bad luck to be caught in the Scottsbluff hospital ER with this guy on duty. I guess they just toss medical licenses into your car in Nebraska… because there is no way this idiot should be practicing medicine.

I came into the er and was treated well by the admission lady and the nurse who took my vitals. Was brought back into a waiting room. Wait time was short. Approximately 4 to 5 min. Dr. Haenschen came in without introducing himself. He said the I am the dr. on duty. Tell me about your exposure . I put out my hand to shake his and he refused to shake it and crossed his arms at his chest. I started to tell him what had happened. I told him I was at work when I saw a man start to have a siezure. I went to go help him Thats when Dr. Haenschen interrupted and said That doesnt matter. This puzzled me. I then asked him what he had been told by the nurse in Kimball. He just shook his head. So I started to tell him again what had happened. I told him that I went to help a man who had a siezure. He then asked Are you a medical professional? I said no. He then said Then what were you doing ? I started to tell him that I went to help someone who was having a siezure. He just… shook his head. He asked again about my exposure . I related to him that I had held the mans head so that he would not hit his head and that the person had bit his tongue and scraped his nose and was bleeding. I told him that during the seizure the man had coughed / exhaled hard into my face. I also showed him the scrape that I had incurred during the mans siezure. Dr. Haenschen glanced at my arm and said I doubt that you ever had your skin broken. I then asked Dr. Haenschen if the coughing in my face could have given me exposure. He just shook his head and left the room. He had only left for a few moments (approx. 4 seconds) when he returned to the room. He then asked me Why wasnt the blood drawn here? Meaning Scottsbluff. I looked at him and shook my head in not knowing what he meant. I asked him Who? He said The guy who had this supposed siezure. I stood there in disbelief. I told him I dont even know the person who had the siezure. I was at work He said I dont care I asked Dr. Haenschen How am I supposed to get a person I dont know down from Kimball to have his blood drawn in Scottsbluff? He just looked at me. I told him that the persons blood was drawn in Kimball and that they would have the results in 72 hrs. He then yelled at me Whats your problem? Why didnt you have it done here? You could have had the results in 2 hrs. I stood unable to speak due to his actions and manner. Completely unprofessional. At this point I acked him What should I do? Dr. Haenschen regained his composure, albeit with a very unflattering body language with attitude. He the proceded to state I dont see any reason to give you a shot of immuno-globulin. I feel that we cant take the risk of you having an adverse reaction to the shot. Plus its expensive. I told him that I am a meat-cutter and that I handle food. He said I dont care. Dr. Haenschen then told me that he was the only physician on duty and that I am not obliged to take his word for it. At this point Dr. Haenschen said I dont think you have been exposed. And since I am the only doctor on duty. Well, my word is it He shrugged his shoulders , pursed his lips, and wiggled his head as if to say there is nothing I can do about it. He said that I could follow up with and internal medicine dr in the morning. He stated that he will get me his number.. He then walked out of the room and as he was walking away I said to him This is my livelyhood. If I have been exposed He said IF is an awful big word I was following him down the hallway when I said again this is what I do for a living. he said Whatever. I left the er at this point knowing that he was refusing to treat me. If this is the type of physician that can obtain a license here in Nebraska I am truly fightened. I am also fearful for myself. I am writing this at 6pm on the same day this happened so as to remain fresh in my mind. Stay clear of this doctor if you cherish your health. I pray that the tests that I have taken come back negative. If not Dr. Haenschen is in for one heck of a huge law suit.
