Dr. Rodney Mark Samuelson, MD

Went for a neck surgery consult and was told he would not do the surgery due to my life expectancy. I am currently going through chemo treatment for cancer that my team of oncologists have told me is treatable. Dr. Samuelson then tells me I have 6 months to live. Not sure why he would say such a terrible thing to a person - didn't know he was also an oncologist. Waited 25 minutes to get into my appointment as well. My doctors were informed and saw his notes in my chart and were appalled.

When I got to the exam room the first thing the nurse told me is that they would not be able to address the entire MRI image sent so I had to pick one area of pain to address. This was never explained to me before this point and how do you PICK which one source of pain to deal with. They hadn't even gotten the right MRI, which I called and had available for them. By the end of the exam the Dr had basically said my MRI was fine (though there were multiple areas of concern) and radiologists just have to 'put stuff in a report' and oh by the way you're fat, call your doctor.

I don't think I have ever met a Dr. With more sincere compassion that Dr. Samuelson! He took care if my father who had a seizure at another Dr. Office. Dr. Samuelson just happened to be there. Got my father to the hospital and cared for him himself. It was a difficult diagnosis but Dr. Samuelson stayed at the hospital and took care of our father. He found that he had a ruptured aneurysm. Met with our family . Explained things so well that we all understood! Dr. Samuelson clipped our fathers aneurysm and continued to stay at the hospital and worry with us. He constantly kept us up to date and explained that since I ( Kari Oborn) and my father James has had an aneurysm that the rest if my siblings should be checked out. He never acted like we were a burden when we asked questions . He made us feel like our father was his only patient. We appreciate you Dr. Samuelson ! God has truly blessed you with the gift of a compassionate heart, kind words and the knowledge to help heal.… Thank you!

He listens, tells you what he thinks and asks your opinion. He is not quick to want to do surgery which is good. He will tell you all options and let you know what he would do if he was in that situation.

i am a young mother with NF2. dr spetzler and dr samuelson both saw me on a thursday and had my in surgey on a monday. i must have been worse than i thought. i thought both doctors were amazing and i hope to have them again and again.

Had a lumbar drain developed a staph infection in spine.. was in continuous pain and after a month sent for mri to find an abcess left behind.

Vp shunt placed at St. Lukes bethlehem pa and he is compansionate and goes out of his way to makw u feel comfortable and bring u back to health.he gave me my life back!
