Dr. Rodolfo A Trivisonno, MD

Dr T has changed my life. My story is a long one, rife with mental health battles that span 25+ years, from adolescence to the time I started treatment with Dr. T a few years ago. Depression for me during that period was not even the hardest part; it was the chronic numbness and derealization that had been incorrectly treated as depression for over two decades. Throw in OCD and generalized anxiety disorder and life wasn't something enjoyable. In fact I couldn't feel much joy, or even sadness, only anxiety and anger. That was my state with some minor fluctuations for 2 decades. Up until I started working with Dr. T I had already tried everything, from dozens of self help books, meditation, mindfulness, medication, therapy, etc. In the end I still felt detached and experienced episodic memory loss. I lost all hope in a life of feeling, and frankly there was no reason for me to be hopeful. Nothing worked. I assumed I had dementia or some kind of neurological at that point. I focused on… the technical and pragmatic rather than the emotive and purposeful. Scheduling an appointment with Dr. T was a last ditch effort that I expected to fail me. He hit the diagnosis of adolescent trauma induced complex PTSD right on the head within 2 appointments. We began treatment immediately. My ruminations and OCD symptoms dropped seriously in a matter of months. Eventually this would lead to me being able to actually feel emotions again that I thought just were no longer available to me. 3-4 years later and I am more integrated, more myself than ever. I have faced fears I never thought possible, and I am doing the very things with my life I never thought I would. Later than I'd have liked, sure, but I am doing it, and life is something I look forward to now. I am more social, outgoing, etc. What else is there to say? I wish there were more psychiatrists with his experience that are available to therapy, that way others could get the same benefit I did. Most have to go through therapists and the wrong medications before giving up which honestly i had before meeting Dr. T. I will say, ignore any negative reviews here. He changed my life, now I just have to live it.

I would not recommend seeing this doctor. I saw him years ago in my early 20s and he really did a number on me. The first meeting I had with him I told him about my crappy job where I was getting verbally abused. I told him about the boyfriend I had at that time who was mentally and emotionally abusing me, even if I didn’t realize that that’s what it was until later. I was crying out for help. The first thing he asked me after hearing my backstory was about my weight. I’m a bigger girl. Have been for a long time. At that time I had no hang ups about my body. But everything’s I told him came back to my weight and how I look and him wanting me to lose weight. I had an abusive job and an abusive relationship and I was the one to blame. Because skinny girls don’t get abused. This haunted me for many years and really messed me up thinking that I deserved it when bad things happened to me for being fat. Please don’t see this man, especially if you’re a young impressionable woman like I was.

If you are seeking treatment for any sort of mental malady, I urge you to look elsewhere. If you would like the full story of the damage done to me by this “Doctor” over the course of 3 years Dr. T has overmedicated me with benzodiazepines and refused to wean me off of them after prescribing gross amounts for The entire 3 year period. This has resulted in permanent damage to my Gaba receptors, which will now take years to repair. The withdrawal process from these drugs is excruciating and long term, and you will receive no compassion or help getting off of them from this Doctor. I’ve had to find another doctor (who was appalled by the amount of these drugs I had been taking for 3 years) to start the process of weaning me off of them. My advice is to go elsewhere.

I feel so safe in dr.t presence that its effortless being real and open. And 10 months ago, i struggled just to get out of bed, cried everyday all day. Much better now and its nice to be treated as a whole person with professional kindness honesty and compassion. Wish i would have found him sooner.

I have been seeing Dr. Trivisonno for some time now, and I do not know where my mental state would be today without him. My counselor recommended him to me. Dr. Trivisonno is very knowledgeable in his field. I would recommend him very strongly to anyone who needs help dealing with mental illnesses.

I have suffered from depression, off and on, all my life, but Dr. T. was able to guide me to a much more fulfilling life. Dr. T. not only listens, he hears. He has a great command of the pharmacology of psychiatry, including factual knowledge of so-called supplements that are on the market. I am skeptical of all of these due to my own past experiences, but his knowledge of the science that is, and is not, there helped allay my fears. His advice was also helpful for non-pharmacologic treatments for depression. As a physician myself, I was extremely impressed with his practice style and his wealth of knowledge. I can recommend him completely without reservation.

Dr Trivisonno was able in just one session to identify and diagnose my condition that has been haunting me for years. So happy I took this step. Feeling so much better and has turned my life around.

Dr. Trivisonno, in a very short period of time, has helped to change my life for the better & regain more control. He is an avid listener & more knowledgeable than any other doctor I have ever seen. He is very careful when prescribing medicine & has me come in frequently to ensure it is doing the job it was prescribed for. He is patient, kind & I never feel rushed during our visit. I would recommend Dr. Trivisonno to anyone experiencing difficulties coping with life, including friends & family.

DR T is an amazing Psychiatrist, he was able to look through the diagnosis of other doctors and see me. eliminated drugs I didn't need and provided counseling for me to understand the perceptions that were not helping me. he has saved me from myself many times.

Dr. T takes his time discussing your medical and any personal issues that effect your situation. In addition to pharmaceutical medications he has extensive naturopathic knowledge that adds to your overall well-being. You can get an appointment but the phone is never answered personally. Office staff is not overly warm or sensitive. Dr. T will not see you in an emergency; you are always referred to an ER.
