Because of the results of a mammogram, my wife was diagnosed with breast Cancer. She had a lumpectomy followed with radiation. Dr. Gilbert was her radiologist. After the radiation treatments, we thought that she was a Cancer survivor. Approximately five months later, which was last April, she had a follow up visit with Dr. Gilbert and mentioned to him that she had a very hard lump in the same breast. He just passed it off telling her that it was just some scar tissue. He didn't even feel the lump. She didn't believe his diagnosis and a month later, had an appointment with Dr. Kim, the surgeon that performed the lumpectomy. Dr. Kim immediately ordered numerous tests, including an MRI which revealed that the Triple Negative Cancer had returned and had encompassed her entire breast. My wife has just completed five months of Chemo infusions and is scheduled for a double mastectomy next Tuesday. It is our opinion that if Dr. Gilbert had performed an examinination on the lump and… had taken the time to order tests on the lump, that the Cancer could have been diagnosed one month earlier. If Dr. Gilbert had pursued the complaint of having a lump in her breast, the results may have been much different. He later phoned my wife and apologized for not checking the lump. Even a complete novice understands that when anyone, male or female, complains about having a lump in their breast, it should be checked out. Is it time that Dr. Gilbert considers retiring? His standard of care is extremely poor and we certainly would NOT recommend him to anyone.
