Dr. Roger Gerard Klauer, MD

Poor excuse for a doctor. Diagnosed me, set me up for therapy, therapy was working, came to him with some questions, pulled me out of therapy and told me I am just fat and need to go on a no carb diet after telling me he is doing a no carb diet. I now have primary lymphedema that is worsening and no help. I went in with question about congestion with it. His one comment was we can cause people to have congestive heart failure but that's not you; you are just fat and need to lose weight! I DO have edema! I cannot even get my shoes on at times, if I wrap I sometimes can. It's in my mid section now and have no help and have hard times breathing now. We need a new lymphedema doctor in this area!!

A couple summers ago, my lymphedema was getting out of hand in my left leg and the pain was terrible. Seeking help for this, I attempted to get an appointment with the only doctor in this area specializing in lymphedema treatment. Unfortunately, he refused to even see me because I am overweight.I lead an active lifestyle and I work full-time. Upon hearing of Dr. Klauer's refusal to even meet me face-to-face, my GP worked with me to determine the best course of action. She sent me to physical therapy services herself and, while my lymphedema is not completely relieved, it is much more manageable. The pain is almost non-existent. I use a compression garment and an at-home device to administer compression therapy. For a time, I used compression wrapping as well, something Dr. Klauer stated in his letter that I would not be able to do because of my size.I understand that my size exacerbates medical conditions, but this is a condition I would have had regardless. For Dr. Klauer to… deny me the opportunity to receive treatment is bad practice and discriminatory. I have relief now, no thanks to him. What is scary to me, however, is that I apparently got in to a physical therapist for my treatment just in time. Dr. Klauer is now working for BOTH of the health care systems in my area. If my conditioned had waited till now to worsen, I would probably have ended up on disability from his denial to treat me.
