Dr. Roger Dale Nichols II, MD

Though Dr. Nichols did present himself with a friendly and positive bedside manner, he lacks attention to important details in his work. I went for MRI breast biopsy where he noted in his report that he inserted a marker. There was no hemorrhaging during the procedure and recovery was minimal with no hematoma, bleeding or seepage from the incision, etc. I assume, based on this, that the marker did not bleed out of my breast following the procedure. When I went for the mammogram to document the location of the marker from the biopsy, there was no marker present. The radiologist on call at the time of the mammogram tried to state that the marker could have migrated or could have come out. I asked if it migrated, then where was it and why did we not see it on the mammography images? Additionally, to come out of the incision, would there not have had to be excessive bleeding or something causing the marker to come out of the biopsy site? He agreed, that migration was not the cause… of not seeing the marker and would not comment on the question of the marker coming out of the site. The issue here is that all procedures associated with this MRI biopsy will need to be repeated in order for follow on medical specialists to be able to adequately address the medical condition. This creates physical pain, wasted time, and double costs of procedures due to Dr. Nichols' negligence. I am very, very disappointed and dissatisfied. I will not return to Dr. Nichols nor would I recommend treatment for anyone at Boulder Community Hospital.
